Hi everyone! I'm new to posting (I've actually been lurking for the last year or so) and wanted to introduce myself.

I just stopped taking birth control last month. (May 18th was my last pill) and I'm excited and nervous to ttc. I've read a lot of posts, researched a lot about ttc, and we are ready to try. I didn't do any OPK's this month, but I've ordered the 40 LH and 10 HPTs (Wondfo's) off Amazon after seeing a lot of people recommend them.

I've also been taking pre-natal vitamins. I'm due for my period this Wednesday (June 20th) and I'm hoping that I jump right back into normal periods. I've always been regular before taking bcp, and I took a 3 year break from them about 5 years ago due to lack of insurance, and they went right back to being regular when I went off of them then.

Just curious about others experiences coming off birth control. How long did it take for periods to go back to normal? To ovulate? How long to get pregnant after going off? Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Kay
When I was 33 and TTC #1, it took me four months after coming off BC (was on that for several years beforehand) to get pregnant. I had two cycles that lasted nearly 40 days and then the third went down to a 29 day cycle and then I got a BFP the next cycle. My second and third babies were conceived whilst I was still breastfeeding infants and had barely begun my menses again. At 38, TTC #4 is probably going to take longer and be harder and we have been trying since January.

Thank you for the information, naples! Always good to hear others experiences. I'm glad to hear it didn't take too long for your cycles to return to normal. And thank you all for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the board!!

For me it took 9 months after stopping my BCP to get my first BFP, but my SIL got her's the first month after she stopped taking them. I think it just depends on the woman

But good luck, I'm excited for you! I hope you get your BFP soon!! GL!

Thanks ladies! I'm excited but also nervous. I always think the worse so... I'm hoping I don't worry myself to death with every little sign and symptom.

Good luck kay! As you know each woman is different. Hopefully it won't take your body long to regulate and for you to get that BFP! GL!
