I want to know everything, lol. I have to call and set one up as soon as af shows again, which should be anyday, (or i have to call for meds to start it). I am a nervous wreck at the thought of having it done, because I am such a wimo when it comes to pain.

Also, did they view it with x-rays or ultrasound?? I have heard of both.

Update on us: We have switched to a new clinic, this one appears to be more proactive. My old Dr. let me have a 115 day cycle, and "missed" that i was insulin resistant for a year!! This new dr said to call if I dont start by CD 28! Also, the old clinic had DH do 2 SA's, but he had to do it at home and take it there within 8 hours, they were all dead or mostly all dead I switched drs. due to meeting a lady who went to the old dr and said he wasted 2 years of her life and to go see this other guy, she said everybody that she knows that went to the old quack for a SA had "no live sperm" and that when going somewhere else that did it there, the right way, there were indeed live sperm, so we are hoping that is the case! Dh did that last week, we are just waiting on results, hoping it is good news. Maybe we will FINALLY get the bfp we have been waiting on!!

This sounds like a great update! I remember your post from awhile ago when you said that DH didn't have any live sperm and now that I know you waited 8 hours to bring it in, I am not surprised by that result at all. I always thought that you had to get it there within an hour. I can't wait to hear the results of his most current test.

I don't know much about having an HSG except that several women on this board have said that it doesn't hurt too much. Hopefully someone who has had one chimes in.

8 Hours?!?!?!?! No wonder! I'm fully expecting a better outcome tomorrow

HSG is done with dye and an x-ray, SHG is done with saline and sonogram. (Probably why there's confusion. It's basically the same procedure, but slightly different name.) I've had the SHG done and it really wasn't bad at all. It hurt for about 2 seconds while the saline was pushed into the tubes (only on the left side though?) but it was over very quickly.

HSG isn't that bad. I had one years ago. You are told immediately the results because they can see if the tubes are blocked right then and there which is great. My husband did an SA too and we did it at home and it had to be brought in immediately after. I think I got it there in 15 minutes and my Dr told me to keep it in between my breasts to keep it warm.

I don't know much about the HSG but I hope it all turns out well!

8 hours!!!!???!!! Are you kidding? A SA has to be examined within 2 and most times they are all dead by then. Most docs will ask for it immediately - which is why some suggest giving the sample at the office rather than driving in.

I've had both tests done and they weren't bad at all. No blood, no pain - But I've been through ALOT pain wise, so even my urodynamic study was no big deal (they fill your bladder up with saline by a tube stuck up our yoohoo).

Good Luck and I'm glad you got a new doc.

Last year the dr said 5 mil, last month we were told no live sperm, (both by old dr.) The new dr called and said 17 mil!! While it is still a little low, it is great news after hearing "no live sperm"!! My husband was who he wanted to talk to, so he missed some details, this is what DH said when he hung up..."he said the normal number was 20 mil, i think and mine is 17 mil, so a little low. Then he said another number that i think he said normal was 2.5-5, i think and i think he said mine was 2.5 so right on the line. Then another number, i forget if he said normal was 80 and mine was 75, or mine was 80 and normal is 75" LMAO!! So i tried to figure out what he was talking about but i will have to try and find out when i go in for my test, lol, I am thrilled with 17 mil though!!!!

That's fantastic news. I have known 10 mil to reach that egg within 3 cycles before so you conceiving soon is totally going to happen. X
