Is it normal for AF to be very.... clotty? I don't ever wear pads so I'm not sure if perhaps I just don't notice it, or if it's something that doesn't usually happen or WHAT but I'm kind of freaking out. I've been wearing pads this AF. We just drove 8 hours back from NC and stopped twice to get gas and use the restroom. First off, this flow is heavier than it has been the past number of months (but I'm blaming that on the Provera). Usually by now I'm either barely spotting or just have a very light flow. Today, CD3, it's still medium. I just used the restroom and while there wasn't much on the pad (thought she was almost gone!) I bled quite a bit while just sitting there peeing! It made the toilet look like a murder scene to put things lightly. I apologize if you're gagging right now.

Anyway I brushed that off as just happening because I had been sitting and nothing had a chance to come out. But then when I wiped, not only one but two big clots ended up on the toilet paper. I mean maybe they weren't BIG but honestly I'd say one was the size of a jellybean and the other was more weirdly shaped and skinnier.

HOW DID THIS COME OUT OF ME? Does your cervix really open that far? I'm concerned but IDK if I should be... considering this is the less than a week after an HSG IDK if maybe some of it was... the dye they used? (maybe it was just hanging out in there like it's cool??? )

Please, tell me, do you ladies have clots like this??

Again, I'm sorry if this was super descriptive, but I'm curious.

I have heavy periods and that sounds like my flow tbh. And I think you're right that sitting at length could make it seem heavier. I've made my fair share of toilet bowls look like the set of The Shining lol. Also I read that some people may experience increased fertility after an HSG because the procedure temporarily sort of "plumps up" your uterine lining from all the fluid. So you might be shedding an extra thick lining this cycle. Hope that helps!

I cant really help you since my cycle is always full of huge clots. Hopefully its just the sitting too long or the HSG like Kit Kat mentioned

Sometimes I have clots too, I think it's normal unless they're REALLY big

The only time I've had big clots is when I've had a chemical. I never have clots so if I do, I know without even doing the early test and getting a bfn that's what it was. Doctor said people have chemicals all the time. It's just a pregnancy that ended before af was due or a day or 2 late.

Other than that, I've had no other experience. I hope this is normal as chemicals hurt mentally even though there was no baby, it's still a pregnancy. Xxx

Alright, thank you. This is reassuring. It just kinda freaked me out because it wasn't something I'd seen before so I was like holy crap my insides are falling out

Glad to know other people have dealt with this. I know for sure that I wasn't pregnant, so I'm not at all thinking it was a m/c or chemical, however it still got me weird for a minute thinking that something was wrong.

Thanks

Ditto to Clare (Captivate) - Only had big clots after a chemical. Your cycle sounds really similar to my last one (which unfortunately was a chemical ). I really hope that's not the case for you. If they get too big, please call your doc. Let us know how it pans out.

Did some reading on my own spotting last night.

It could be because your last af, estrogen started early and your living was still they're from previous cycle, not all but some.

It would explain your clots and my long af. Xxxx

I'm barely spotting today, hardly need a liner so I think it all cleared out after I got out of the car yesterday

And its only day 2 of Clomid but the hot flashes are fierce this month already. Woooooo.

I used to get clots when I was younger and after having a baby I always got some scary giant clots. I don't really get them now. I think it just depends on the person and how their cycles evolve over time and what is normal for them. I have also heard chemicals can do that. I think it might just be different since you are on fertility drugs. Don't be alarmed...jellybeans are small

When I don't ovulate, but still have a period, I get big clots... also got them after 2 miscarriages, but never before that. The body is a mystery to say the least.

I've wondered the same thing myself. I only notice them when I wear pads though never with tampons. Maybe because you can feel them coming out when you wear a pad vs a tampon.

I have very heavy, extremely thick, and clotty periods. I wear cloth pads so I know what my flow looks like.... Clots are kinda, erm, SQUISHY, it can squish through the opening. Ive had some as big as golf balls (sorry ladies), my periods mimick the consistency of thick choc syrup.... (sorry again).... I am incapacitated too for about 24 hours pretty much. Im so so sorry sweetie. It CAN be normal, it can also be the sign of a chemical, as Clare mentioned. If you feel like its totally abnormal, maybe call your Dr?
