George really likes working with his company. He has been on a fast track with them since he started 3 years ago. He started PT and moved to full time key holding within 6 months of hire, asst manager within 1 year of hire and running a managerless store at 1.5 yrs, and a running his store within 2 years. All of this with only about 6 months cashier experience before working at this company. His store does really well, and has shown a lot of growth in the time he has been there. His small store regularly is a top performer in his district and region competing with many larger stores. He was surprised to find out that he is good at management and really enjoys what he does...

All that said, He is interested in climbing up the ladder some more. His district and regional mangers are both showing an interest in him and seem eager to teach him. They are also very impressed with the work he does. The regional manager wants him to have at least another year or two exp under his belt but is willing to consider helping him to advance to the next stage (a district manager, over about 15 stores). The District manager George currently works under told him that if we were willing to move that there is a good chance George would be able to move up much sooner.

I am excited for him and although I love living here in NC, I am willing to relocate, and I figure we can kinda pick and choose the areas we are interested in applying for (should something come open). If he doesn't get them, no biggie, we aren't in a rush.

So my question for you is, what areas would you consider and why?? What places would you NOT go near and why??? What factors would you look at when choosing an area?
