Hi girls,

It has been long time I have not posted here anything...its just because I have been hoping month to month to get success.
And I have been thinking all the year almost that its because of me...I went to visit my doctor and at the same time..my doctor sent my bf also to doctor...my bf`s sperm was tested.. in conclusion-- the doctor said that its because my bf...his sperm was nooot good ...they didn't find any active sperms in his sperm.. or how should I say it.. and she said that its impossible for us to get a pregnant in natural way... omg... wasted 1 year ...
now my bf is going to a doctor where they should find out what is the reason why he is not able to make me pregnant.. but I have been thinking.. my bf is 23..and he is sporty guy..he doesn't smoke .. he doesn't drink alcohol at all---why us?! Oeh...
Also girls perhaps you know some vitamins what can help us to raise sperms in his sperm?
There must be some solutions for that...so our opportunities are IVF, ICSI..
is here anybody who have had the same situation ?? Please give some advise .....thank you

I haven't really been in that situation. When we were trying to conceive our first Dh had his sperm tested. It came back with not bad but not ideal mobility so my Dr prescribed him to take L-Carnitine and a Men't mulitvitamin. So maybe that could help. I hope someone with more experience can give you some additional ideas.

Yes I think they did help. They increased his mobility.

I've never been a "fan" of IVF for moral reasons - a lot of embryos die. with that said, I would try to use the vitamins and such before trying IVF.

Also consider, could you handle multiples? MUCH higher chance.

I highly recommend vitamins from GNC they are Performance&Vitality (I think) and Fertility Blend. It is kinda pricey but they would definitely help his sperm. Otherwise you might have to look into using a sperm donor.

And a lot of embryos live (see my siggy), giving people like me the chance at a family.

If you only transfer one embryo, the chances of multiples aren't higher.

OP, I'm sorry for the rotten news. Sometimes vitamins can help, and sometimes other help is needed. If you post on the TTC with Male Factor board, you can find more info. The TTCMA board can help with any IVF questions.

A lot of embryos die the old fashioned way too. Just because you don't get pregnant every month doesn't mean an embryo wasn't created. It just failed to implant for the same reason a lot of IVF embryos don't make it. Any embryo that doesn't make it during IVF wouldn't make it the old fashioned way either.

If you're talking about the "left overs", it is possible to donate them to a family who cannot make their own for whatever reason. They don't have to be discarded.

Wow! We are all entitled to our opinions yes, but there are many mummas on here that have tried for years and years to conceive. Everyone deserves the gift of mother hood.

I had three eggs fertilize via ICSI/IVF. I am currently pregnant with twins. Sadly the third embie didn't make it AND wouldn't have made inside of me either. MY DH has morphology issues and without ICSI we wouldn't even have these two that are growing in my right now!

I posted this in your thread on the TTC with Male Infertility board, but I'll copy it here:

I'm sorry you got such bad news! Every situation is different, so maybe they'll find a reason why your DF doesn't have any sperm. It might be that he has sperm in his testicles, but they get blocked along the tubes so they don't actually come out in his ejaculate... in which case, IVF would still be an option. Also, does he have NO sperm, or just very few sperm? That could make a big difference as well. Depending on how bad it is, IUI or IVF could be options. There could be hormonal problems, too, that could cause it. Hopefully your DF will see a good specialist who will test him for everything and then you'll have more information to see if the problem is something that is fixable or not.

For us, we found out that my DH made very few sperm--and they were all of very poor quality--when we were only 25 years old. He had all the testing done, and we could never figure out a reason why. And he, too, was healthy, a nonsmoker, etc. We tried IVF twice--the first time got a bfn, the second time we got pg but it was a chemical pg (AF came 3 days after my bfp). DH started to have second thoughts about using his sperm... he felt like maybe there was something genetically wrong with him and if something ended up being wrong with the baby, he'd never forgive himself because he'd feel like it was his fault. So we ended up deciding to do IUI using donor sperm. We now have a 5 year old son, a 2 year old daughter, and we're now 17 wks pg with #3. We have no regrets about our decision, but everyone has a very different opinion about using a donor and I wouldn't say it's right for everyone.

So I think first, hang in there and try to get more answers about how bad your DF's sperm really are, if there are any, and get all the hormonal/antibody/varicocele testing done to see if you can figure out what the problem is. Then you'll have more information about how to move forward.

~~~~~~
As for the morality issue raised above, to each their own I guess. Some people aren't comfortable with IVF for a whole bunch of reasons. Like, my DH wasn't comfortable with it, not because of moral issues, but just because he's a firm believer in Darwin's survival of the fittest, and was just convince that any baby created using his "messed up" sperm would end up with genetic problems, and he'd blame himself for that. I'm not sure there's any evidence to actually *support* DH's beliefs, but he felt strongly about using a donor, and I liked the idea of doing IUI instead of IVF, so I agreed. But IVF does raise a bunch of issues to consider--like, if there were left over embryos, would you be comfortable donating them to someone else? Would you be comfortable discarding them? having them used for research? People's thoughts about this vary tremendously, but it's just stuff to think about before getting into it.
I would certainly never judge anyone for doing it. I just answered honestly. I didn't want to get too deep into it for fear of starting an argument (not my intention) that is just my personal conviction ...
I can most definitely sympathize with and understand IVF for many, many reasons. Please don't think I was trying to be hurtful in any way shape or form.
My DH has low count, low motility and poor morphology. He had a bloodtest which revealed low testosterone. He had an exam and u/s to look for varicoceles. He is now getting a full male hormonal panel run (to look at FSH, LH, prolactin, estrogen). We are then going to a urologist that specializes in MFI to determine course of treatment. My DH is currently taken fertil aid, count boost, motility boost, pine bark extract, acetyl l carnitine, men's multi. We have also recently seen an herbalist that prescribed him a bottle of pills to balance his whole body out. He has also done acupuncture.
We only had 5 million sperm with 0% morphology, were told we would never conceive naturally. We did herbs, acupuncture and lots of prayer and got pregnant on our 18th cycle trying. If we had not conceived, we would have done IVF with ICSI. We are currently on our 15th cycle ttc#2.
Please join us on the ttcma board if you want to know more about IVF. I have MANY friends that were given the chance to FINALLY become parents because of IVF. I also know a couple people who's husbands had no sperm but were able to have a procedure done (TESE) to extract sperm and then did IVF without having to use donor sperm.
Message me if you want to talk!!! Good luck!!! Praying it's something "fixable". ♥
