have ya'll been keeping up with what is going on in Texas and Oklahoma?? I am just blown away by all the devastation left in from the tornadoes. Sending lots of thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by those storms. Even our sweet son prayed for all the people that they would get better and no more bad weather would go their way.
Thankfully our friends and family have remained safe so far. My FIL lives right outside of Granbury, but was thankfully vacationing in Hawaii. DH's best friend just moved back to OKC, and DH was able to get word from him a few hours ago that they have been very lucky. He texted us some pictures of what is left of part of the neighborhood down the street, and its horrifying. I have been in 2 tornados, but nothing like this, but it is a terrifying experience. So sad.
I had no idea until tonight It is truly sad I knew something was up because we have gotten tons of rain the last week and WE NEVER GET RAIN... Thinking of those in TX and OK, as well as LA because a really bad storm popped up near Shreveport this past weekend
Yesterday afternoon (May 20) an EF4 tornado hit Moore, OK and it hit the school there killing 9 children. I had heard this morning the death toll was 51 with 20 being children but then this afternoon I heard the death toll was 24 with 9 of them children. Pres Obama has declared it a major disaster area.
I know that your thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated for those who have been affected by the tornadoes. One of the stories that really got to me was when one of the rescuers told about them lifting a car from inside the school and there was a teacher lying under it with three students under her. They all survived thank goodness I heard they had it on one of the morning news shows but I missed it because I was heading to class and only heard about it on the radio so I didn't know they had survived until we were talking about it in class.
I have been but quit watching news because it was so heartbreaking. I am about 2 house north of OKC and so many local people have been gathering supplies to take down to those people. I have a friend gathering baby equipment to take down so I donated my pack and play. It's just so sad and I can't watch any of the news without crying.
