Last night I worked a night shift so I didn't get to take my temp at 5 am as usual. I didn't go to sleep until 10 am and I woke up at 4 pm. When I took my temp it was way higher than usual, but is that because it's at a way different time of day?? Should I even chart that? It was 98.48 and usually my temp is 97.4-97.8ish

Yeah, your temp was thrown way off. Even though you got sleep...your body was still out of whack with it being during the day. I do think you should throw that temp out.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'd love to put in a temp that high, but not if it's not real haha

i think it would throw you off it is a rare occurence to do nightshift. If you do it regularly than as long as you get more than 3 hours of deep sleep it should be accurate. I would say, write it down, and note on the chart that it was nightshift and pay attention to how warm your body is in the blankets, too cus it's day time and summer it will be warmer outside, hence you will be warmer and that could affect things. Just write everything down, as long you remember to temp it's a good thing and then look back and see if your nightshift temps are always the same or all over the place.

Write it in, with a note about your sleeping pattern and then check the discard box. That way its still there for your records but not involved in your chart...
I know the rule of thumb is after 3 consecutive hours but 5 hours is a lot more accurate. My temps are thrown off if I only get a little more than 3 hours of sleep and I'm also super sensitive to taking it at different times.
I wouldn't worry about one temp, it's more the overall pattern you're looking at

Thank you all for the advice! I did a 5 am temp today and got 97.58 which is normal for me. I will just note the high temp. I work two more night shifts this week so it will all be messed up again
