I've had the mirena IUD for the last 6 years and just removed it this week. Just curious if anyone else has used this for their BC and how long did it take you to get a BFP after taking it out? Thanks!

Lurking, I had mine removed in April and didn't get a period for almost three months, which is at the longer end of the "normal" time period (I did have some withdrawal bleeding though).

I conceived at the end of August, so about 5 months? Good luck to you! Be patient with your body after Mirena, which is easier said than done!

Last year I had mine removed mid February and got pregnant 1st week of March without ever having a period. I now have a healthy 11 month old! Good luck to you!

Thanks ladies! Those are both hopeful stories! I'm really hoping to be a lucky one that conceives quickly but i could handle a few months. With my first child, it took me about 8 months after coming off the pill. I'm already having the withdrawal bleeding, I guess you would call it. Not exactly a full period, but heavier than just spotting. I've got my fingers crossed that everything is trying to go back to normal! Thanks for the info!!
