i'm going to try and do this everyday, lets see how works out, if everyone likes it.
If you have any ideas, pm me and give me your suggestions PLEASE I'll give you a statement or something out of the news and you give your Opinion.

They say someday there will be the technology to choose the sex of your child,
would you do it?

That's a good idea

I personally would not ever choose the sex of my child...my feeling is god will give me what I am meant to have.

I love my boys and I wouldn't mind having another boy. I'm not that critical to chose the sex of my child. I wouldn't wanna tempt fate.

If I was guarenteed that no harm would come to my unborn child because of the testing.... Sure I would.

No, I wouldn't choose the sex of my baby, but I would like the techonology to know earlier than 19 weeks.

I would not mess with fate, though I wouldn't condem those who wanted to chose either. Rememebr when finding out what you're having before the baby is born was controversial? Now it is common practive. My friend has 7 girls. They tried and tried for a boy. Finally they gave up. I'd give them my blessing to have the choice to have a boy.

The technology is more or less here already through vitro fertilization. Australia banned the process in March 2005. I would like to add that in some cases this will be a much needed service: for instant when a chronic, rare, genietc disease is passed from the parents to a child of a potential sex.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects only boys, but the gene that causes this muscular degenerative disease is carried by healthy, unaffected females. Like muscular dystrophy, hemophilia affects only boys, and is caused by a gene usually (but not always) passed down through healthy women.

I am certain there are hundreds of other examples. Technology is not always bad.

I wouldn't use it. Whatever God has in his plans is what I'll take.

I am being AI'd. They told me that one of my options was to have them go in and take out all the male sperms if I wanted a girl. It isn't 100% but many people do it. I don't believe in a god but it still doesn't feel right to me. Sometimes I just feel that technology shouldn't be used in these areas. Just like cloning. That scares me.

I don't believe in that. i think God has a special plan for each individual and it's not up to us to determine the sex of our baby.

well I think in some genetic disease situations maybe. I would never choose to pick my own sex for the heck of it. But then again if you are using chinese birth charts is that kinda the same thing. Neither one are a 100% sure thing. there's always room for error.

Who knows.

I wouldn't because my desire for a certain sex is not that extreme. I would like another girl but would love to have a boy also.

I'd rather keep this in God's hands. He's wiser than I am.

I think that I would be very tempted to pick the sex but when it comes down to it I don't think I would want to make that decision.

Hi Ladies, just visiting from the TTC #1 Board.
First, I must say that like most of you, I'm not qualified to make a decision like that and would leave that up to a higher power!
Second, can you believe that with all the diseases, cancer, SIDS, AIDS and the large number of problems out there, that they are making room for research like this. If it can help prevent medical issues, then I guess it is valid, however, I just don't see how being able to determine the sex of a child could be a preventative measure.
Sorry to vent, I just can't believe that this world could possibly change the sex of an unborn child, but can't prevent the suffering of millions.
Just a thought....
