I made DH go for a physical and he mentioned his concerns about us not conceiving yet. Doctor sent him for spermies test!! I am so happy, but now the pressure is on me to get checked.

I have an appointment with my PCP on June 28, so I will mention my concerns and hope to be referred to a fertility specialist. I am feeling better about things since we are beginning to take medical steps to achieving a BFP.

I pray that the two of us are fine.

Another problem is that I have gained 40 pounds since the Christmas. I am convinced that it is because of Seroquel, Bipolar meds. So, I quit taking it and my doctor wrote me a new prescription but it is not a Bipolar med, so I fluctuate between being mildly annoyed to being totally pissed all day. New doctor doesn’t think that I have Bipolar, but MDD (whatever that is) instead. Since stopping the Seroquel, I have dropped 5 pounds but, I have a long way to go in order to look nice on my wedding day, July 23.

I hope everything turns out okay with his spermies! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you too!

And I am sorry you had to go off your meds - is the medication you are on now the only option or can they see if something else might be able to work a little better? And MDD? Does that stand for major depressive disorder?

I'm not sure what it stands for, but I need to do some research on it. Problem is is that I am SOOOO sick of dealing with whatever this is. I am becoming somewhat careless in my way of handling it. Doctors are not agreeing on what the diagnosis is and it is irritating me BIG TIME.

I know what you mean. I suffer from PTSD - and doctors have always disagreed on what the best way to treat me was. I had a few doctors tell me that meds would NEVER work (which they never did) and they told me that the only way I would ever get better was to have ECT treatments (shock treatments). I have seen people undergo that and they have just been like zombies afterwards with no memory. So I was NOT doing that. Although I am sure it helps a lot of people I was NOT going to chance it.

For me, I found I got better by just listening to my body and working through my issues. I still have bouts with depression but I can manage it. I have been off ALL medication for over a year now and am okay. I never thought it would ever happen. I was very sick for over ten years. So I am proof that anything is possible.

I hope things work out for you! I will be keeping you in my thoughts!

Good luck to both of you in your search for answers. Testing for the unknown is frightening. But I trust that everything will turn out just fine.

Hi WalkerGM

I have BiPolar Affective Disorder. I have the mildest type which is called Cyclothymia.

I have responded very well to Lamictal. Prior to that, they tried Depakote (yuck .. side effects) then Lithium (no side effects whatsoever, but didn't help either). Now I am on Lamictal and it is a wonder drug. I haven't felt this good in years. Even helps with my PMS!!

For those of you who don't know, BiPolar is a chemical imbalance, much like Diabetes. I was only diagnosed last Fall, but I am sure I have had it ever since I was on Lupron ... long story for another time.

The nice thing about Lamictal is that at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, they did a study and there was absolutely no increase in birth defects. Also, according to Dr. Jack Newman who is supposed to be the world expert on breastfeeding, you can nurse while on Lamictal.

I was hesitant to mention that I am BP, because I was worried that you would all think I am a raving lunitic. Yes, I still have my days, but everyone does, BP or not.

Good luck to you on your quest to find just the right med. It takes a while, but it is SO worth it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, that another nice thing about Lamictal is that as a "side effect" it has anit-depressant properties. Yes, they refer to it as a side effect LOL.

I'm glad that you're on the road to finding out if there's anything hindering your BFP. It's not fun seeing an infertility specialist, but at the same time you feel armed with so much information and test results you feel like you're on your way.

I can relate to the weight gain. I've gained weight being on the clomid.

Good luck with the spermie testing!! My DH had his tested and we found out that his sperm count is normal......which, has allowed us to eliminate that as a problem. Usually they will test the man first and then the woman, due to the fact that testing the woman can get more invasive.

I'm not on Clomid, but I have gained weight as well....It makes me feel down about myself..

I have never been diagnosed with bipolar or anything else, but at times I wonder what's wrong with me.....I can get so crazy angry instantly over something that is not that important.....I have mood swings and get depressed quite often. I want to look into maybe taking some meds, but because I hope to become pregnant, I'm afraid to take anything.
