I have not been posting much for a while so most of you won't know me... Quick version of my story:
DH and I have been TTC for 13 months. It was determined DHs morphology is on the low end, 9%. His count and motility are really high so the RE told us we have a good enough chance at natural conception so we just kept trying. We decided that we would do IUI if I was not PG after one full year. I started spotting yesterday, signalling the end of our 13th cycle. For IUI the first step is to have a baseline ultrasound to determine it is safe for me to take clomid. During the ultrasound they found a "leftover follicle". I saw on the ultrasound, it was a black circle. They told me that if I did not start flowing for real not to take the clomid. So now I am wondering what in the heck would cause a leftover follicle and why I wouldn't be able to take clomid. She said if I don't flow today she would order a preg test through their lab. Are they saying this follicle could be a pregnancy? Please help if you have any information.

I think it is probably somewhat a cyst? Well I am guessing but if it was estrogen producing (as some cysts are) then you wouldn't want to start Clomid until it is resolved. This is usually easily fixed by putting you on bcp for a week or two though. Did they run any tests or suggest bcp?

No tests, just said if I don't flow not to take the clomid. I am totally flowing now so I won't worry about it I guess.

I only know a bit about this.....My sister was told clomid wasn't a good option for her b/c she had a leftover follicle from a miscarriage - that clomid increases the risks of cysts. After that my sister developed a huge hemmorragic (sp?) cyst that ruptured and caused her great pain. So basically....clomid increases the risks of cysts and if you are prone to them it can cause more harm than good.

Late reading this but sounds to me like it was the corpus luteum that wasn't quite gone yet, (which is the cyst that forms after you O) but since you are full blown AF then sounds like you are a-okay! Good Luck!
