has anyone ever used the micra first step self fertility checkup kit for men? we just used it and it is AWESOME!!! it checks for sperm count, sperm motility and azoospermia, oligospermia, and asthenospermia. it comes with a microscope, cover slides, solution, etc. we just did the three tests and it was so interesting. we could see the sperm and count them, check for mobility, etc.
i ordered it from the internet. it's not a replacement for a SA, but it's still really cool. It was about 80 bucks.
they have a couple of male fertility products. i ordered that along with some preseed and some IC hpts!
i'm telling you...it was so neat! we watched the sperm even try and penetrate small air bubbles!! they were so agressive! TMI, i know...lol. to me, it was well worth the money to just get a cursory look and know that a) there are sperm there and B) they move around!!
DH is getting a SA done anyway..we had it scheduled. but it was still cool!
I saw that & was contemplating getting it! Did it show anything wrong?[/b]
no, nothing wrong at all. the microscope has a built-in grid that allows you to count the sperm to determine if it's at least 20 million sperm cells per ml. you can really see them well!! it's so awesome, i keep saying that lol. you can see their shapes, their tails, how well they move, etc. it's worth the money to me.
forgot to add..you're supposed abstain from ejaculation for 3-5 days before taking the test...(TMI on its way, lol) we BDed friday night and he took the test this morning...for at least 20million you'd need to count 7-8 sperm cells per 16 grids and we counted around 30!
hands down, it was probably the most 'well worth it' thing i've bought for TTC. my hormones must really be raging because it made me sad to see one-half of our possible 'babies' swimming around, knowing they had no hope of fertilizing anything! it was pretty cool. they give you enough testing materials to test more than one time also.
