Hi ladies

My husband and I are starting to try this month but I have been charting for a few months just to see how it goes. It looks like my luteal phase ranges from 15-20 days. I know a short luteal phase is bad but is 20 days too long?

any thoughts?

According to TCOYF, 18 high temps after o indicate pregnancy. Either you're experiencing early losses, or your o date is incorrect when your lp is that long.

I don't think a 20 day luteal phase is possible. The corpus luteum doesn't survive that long. If you are having that long of a luteal phase you are either miscalculating your o date or you are pregnant. Do you have a link to your chart or are you doing it all on paper?

Here is a link to my chart. Hopefully it will work. I'm new to message board thing, so I have no idea what i'm doing.

It's the chart dated aug. 7

I'm pretty sure it wasn't an early loss because I was out of town the whole week around ovulation.

That link didn't work. For a minute I thought it was my chart (because it was) and was going to say gees your chart looks a lot like mine. LOL. If you go to sharing and then home page set up. You will see a url at the top that says Your Charting Home Page Web Address: Copy and paste that url here.

Two days ago Dr. looked at my chart with a LP of 24, and she immediately said that was impossible. Then she checked me out and thought I had a loss, so sent me for blood work to check on hcg levels. She is of the idea that the longest LP should be 16 days, and if early pregnancy detection is impossible with HPT, it should be detected at by 18 DPO.

15-18 should be ok...may be you ovulated alittle later, but wouldnt know. Let me wait and see your chart

Looking at your chart, I think your O date could be off. Have you tested? You might not have O'd until cd27.

Hey Teresa

I didnt test because AF showed up yesterday. I do see what you are saying about the O date being off. It could be but judging by my other signs and symptoms I really do think it was around day 18 or 19.

The body is such a mysterious thing

Thank you for your input, it is much appreciated

Meg, I have to wonder if maybe you had a chemical pregnancy this cycle. That would also explain a long luteal phase. I had a chemical pregnancy the cycle before last. In all honesty, your O date really does look right, but the only other thing I can think of is maybe an O date of cd27.

I think the o date is correct and you experienced an early loss. It's actually quite common and most women don't chart and therefore don't realize that they were ever even pregnant.

It's hard to remember, but by any chance do you remember how your CM was on CD 27?

A chemical would make sense except that I was out of town the whole week around ovulation. There is just no way it could have happened. I think I will just see what happens this cycle.

thanks everyone!
