If you conceived while TTA, tell us about it! If you were using a Fertility Awareness Method and your contraceptive of choice failed - just vote for that one.

I have had 3 unplanned pregnancies. My DD was conceived on the depo-provera shot. I conceived with the mirena IUD and carried to 9 weeks, when I had to have it removed and it also removed the pregnancy (a risk I had to take, continuing the pregnancy with it in can cause problems and possibly puncture your uterus) which was sad, but I knew it was a possibility. And after TTC and having multiple losses I went on BCPs I took them properly for about 6/7 months and became pregnant with this baby, my son that's expected to be here in early april.

I was on Nuvaring when I conceived my DD. I was also taking a prescription for a sinus infection which probably caused my BC to fail. She was our surprise blessing!

We were using condoms when my daughter was conceived. There was no apparent failure but apparently something didn't work. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world though.

I swear I thought I posted to this already. I have had two oopsie pregnancies but in both cases it is because we weren't using birth control at all. I guess it would fall in the NFP didn't follow rules category but we weren't really using NFP just kind of winging it on when we thought the safe times were. I knew a little about cm and my cycles but not enough to be relying on it. We were using condoms too but weren't during the times we conceived. I got pregnant with Lyndsey on the last day of my AF. I have really long periods so if you read that you can't get pregnant on AF that is not really true.

You probably did. There was a thread about it and I thought it would like nice as a poll. I like charts, of all kinds. LOL

I thought I posted to this too, it was defnitely a poll though Maybe I'm just going mad!
I fell pregnant on the pill twice; I was taking it to control the spread of my endo instead of as contraception, but it didn't do me much good for either use to be honest. I think the dose was too low for me.

This is interesting. I thought the mini pill would have more votes than the regular combined one.

I'm surprised that so many have gotten PG on the pill!

We DTD 5 days before ovulation (with sticky cm!) and got pg with DD. I really thought we'd be safe but I guess not! I'm so happy though, DD is the best thing that's ever happend to us
The only thing is, now that DD is 6 months I'm paranoid about accidentaly getting pg again. It's my first real cycle PP and I'm 5 DPO and every little symptom is freaking me out. I'm hoping that after a few cycles of successfull TTA I'll stop worrying.
By the way, anyone know what the rules for TTA are in the pre-ovulatory stage? I thought it was you could DTD until you started having creamy cm?

I got pg while using the VCF contraceptive film. We misused it though and did not wait the instructed 15 minutes before "beginning." TMI, I know... but you did ask.

This is our specialty over at NFP/FAM, come check it out!
The pre-ovulatory rules are:
1. Avoid intercourse on days with heavy bleeding during menstruation (because you can't tell if the CM has started when you have heavy bleeding).
2. As long as you are completely dry (no CM felt or seen) - you can BD on alternating nights. Nights only because then you have all day to make sure you're still infertile. Alternating accounts for seminal fluid. The day after BDing is usually a seminal fluid day, so you can't really tell if you're still dry. So you let the SF day pass, then you have the whole next day to see if you're still dry or not. If so, the night is available.
3. If you have any CM or spotting during the pre-ovulatory phase, WAIT. Wait until ovulation is confirmed (and 3 full days after). If ovulation doesn't occur at that time and the CM disappears, then wait until you have 3 full dry days before going back to rule 2 (alternate nights).
Some women are never completely dry because they have infertile vaginal discharge which is different than fertile CM. To tell the difference, it's necessary to evaluate 3 full cycles before calling a particular observation infertile. Up to then, *all* CM is potentially fertile by default.
Does that help?

I was on the mini pill, breastfeeding and we were using condoms.
But...we're very happy about this pregnancy!
