Took 5 First Responses, starting Monday, all BFPs with line getting darker each time. The last test I took yesterday, the line was almost darker than the control line. Went to the Doctor Wednesday, urine test negative. So they did a blood test - got results Thursday, hcg level only at 30. I have no idea when my last period was...sometime in December, I know that's bad..

So my doctor ordered a transvaginal ultrasound, had that last night (Friday), and NOTHING. The tech said I could be VERY early...like 1-2 weeks. But if I'm only 1-2 weeks or less, than how am I getting BFPs? I thought the hormone was only released at or after implamantation? And implamantation occurs at about 4 weeks, correct? And if I'm 4 weeks, shouldn't they be able to see a sac?? So confused

I've been having light cramping since Tuesday, but no signs of blood at all. Sometimes it's to a certain side. This would be my first pregnancy. I have been more tired than usual, and been getting headaches...but that might be due to stress. No nausea or breast soreness.

Any input is very much appreciated!!! Thank you

I just read that ultrasounds can detect pregnancy at 4 1/2 to 5 weeks so it simply may have been too early. As for your HCG levels, I think you're still fine. Here's why. First, you have no idea when you ovulated. But you got your first positive test on Monday. Let's say that was 10 or 11 days past ovulation. If so, then on Wednesday, you would have been 12 or 13 days past ovulation. If so, an hcg level of 30 is within the normal range.

Obviously, this is pure speculation regarding your dates but it gives you a scenario in which it would all work out.

The real question is, are they doing a follow up blood test. The important thing is usually not how high or low one test is...the important thing is whether or not your levels are doubling every couple of days.

Finally, the fact that your lines are getting darker is a VERY good sign. I bet your next blood test will come back with a MUCH higher number!

Thank you - this gives DBF and I so much hope

Even the nurse said she thought the doctor was going to order a 2nd blood test - but ordered a transvaginal US instead. Hopefully I will go for another blood test on Monday. I am just freaking out and every time I get a little cramping I think my period is about to start but PRAYING it's not. Is there anything I should avoid doing/eating being this early?

Are you taking a prenatal vitamin? That is hugely important in early pregnancy, particularly for the folic acid. Don't take ibuprofen as that has recently been linked to early miscarriage. Other than that, it's all pretty much common sense...don't drink, don't smoke, eat your veggies, etc., etc....lol.

Also, keep in mind that cramping is very common in early pregnancy so try not to let that freak you out too much.

Definitely get your blood checked again...I can't imagine why they didn't order another blood test! And please let us know what happens! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Yes taking prenatals...going in for blood test Monday. I think my doctor ordered the transvaginal US because she originally thought I was 6-7 weeks along...because I told her that my last period was the first of December. Then after a few days I realized that it could have been any day in December. Today on the phone she said "Oh, well that changes everything" Sooooo hoping for a rise in hcg levels
