I am trying to conceive my first child. I have a regular 28 day cycle. I had sex on the 16th day of my cycle which was the 12th of this month. Could I still had a chance to conceive on that day? My last period was on December 27th 2011. I think tomorrow I would start my period or I could be pregnant. What would my ovulation dates be during this month? I did go to the doctor on the 19th and they did a pregnancy test. And it came out negative. Was that too early for a test? If anyone could help me out on this I would appreciate it.

Hi and welcome! If you have a 28 day cycle, you probably ovulate *around* the 14th day of your cycle. However, it's possible that you ovulate a couple of days before or after. IF you ovulate later, it's possible to have gotten pregnant. If you ovulated on the 14th day of your cycle, then it would have been too late to get pregnant on the 16th day.

If, however, you ovulated late and did conceive from sex on January 12th, then the January 19th would have been too early to get a positive result on a pregnancy test. If you got pregnant, you could probably get a positive home pregnancy test in the next few days.
