Hello. New to the board. A little background about me. I have been married for 11 years. The hubby and I decided to wait to have kids as we got married young and wanted to be more established. I stopped taking birth control back in November. I'm 32 so I expected it to take a while to get pregnant since I am older and I figured it would be a few months before my body regulated itself. I am now five days late for my period. I took a test yesterday and it was positive.
I was so shocked by the results since it has only been three months that I decided to take another test today.
Again another positive but less definitive this time. I made an appointment to see the doctor and made an appointment for February 14.
The second test looks a little lighter. Does that really matter?
Because of my age I am just worried about issues that could happen. And since I can't see the doctor for two weeks it is going to drive me crazy. I haven't told my husband yet since I want a definite yes from the doctor. I know he will be shocked.
Any chance two tests could give a false positive?
Sorry for the ramble. I have a lot going through my mind right now

And just to add. I have no pregnancy symptoms. I feel 100% normal.

Hi and welcome! Let me reassure you that if you have two clear positives, you are definitely pregnant. As for today's test being lighter, it's possible that your urine is a bit more diluted than it was when you took the first test. If it makes you feel better, try again tomorrow with first morning urine and I bet it will be at least as dark as it was yesterday.
I understand your concerns and the truth is, things can and do happen--and not because you're 32. You are still in a perfectly normal child-bearing age range so try not to let that worry you. And the fact that you are five days late is a good start. Many of the early pregnancy losses we see around here happen before the woman's period is even due! So you are already ahead of the game in that respect.
Finally, did you make an appointment with an OBGYN? If so, they *may* do blood work to confirm the pregnancy. They may also give you a urine test (no different than the ones you already took) and declare you pregnant. If you're going to see a regular doctor, you will most likely just get a urine test. I'm telling you that just so you understand that a positive home pregnancy test is a pretty sure thing. When I went to the doctor with my first pregnancy and told them I had taken three positive tests, they said, "You're pregnant. Go see your OB." LOL...they didn't even test me themselves. So if you're dying to tell your husband, you can feel safe to go ahead and do so. Then again, it would make a really cool Valentine's Day gift

Thank you! It's just nice to have some info from other people. At this point the only one that knows is my sister because I just needed to tell someone. I made an appointment with an OBGYN. I figured why go to a regular doctor to just have them tell me to go to an OB.
Part of my worry stems from having several friends TTC and having medical problems. It just feeds into my worry and makes me a little crazy.
I just know my hubby will be stunned. Since my appointment is on valentines day I think I will wait and surprise him.

First, congrats! ANd what an awesome Valentine's Day gift for the future daddy! I am 31, soon to be 32, your age is definitely not an issue (yet - the medical community typically doesn't consider age an issue until at least 35). There are things that can and do happen, the symptom free thing is nothing to be concerned about though. Many symptoms don't pop up until around 6-8 weeks, you would be considered to be about 4.5 to 5 weeks along, and some women never even have symptoms!
As far as medical problems of your friends, I would try (easier said than done, I know) not to focus on what others have and focus on you - you got over the first hurdle, that was to get pregnant.
I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!!

Thank you!!
We are going on a mini vacation for 5 days so it will be a nice distraction while I wait for my doctors appointment in two weeks. I'm trying not to obsess about it. At least till I get confirmation from the doctor, then I will obsess like crazy After waiting 11 years we are ready. I just never imagined we would need to be ready so quickly, but that is definitly a good thing.

I have been having flushing in my face, chest and arms. Could this be a symptom of pg? My face turns bright red for no reason and feels like fire. And then after a while just goes away.
I actually thought something was wrong with me and went to the doctor last week before the pg tests and had blood work. I got the results back today and everything came back normal. I didn't discuss the possibility of pg causing this with the doctor.

the board ate my post
First off CONGRATS!!!
Second, age is just that...a number. I'm 32 and hubby and I have decided to TTC baby #3 after not having a baby here for 7 years. LOL
And each and every pregnancy is different. First time around I couldn't eat anything but cantaloupe for 6 months. Second one...NADA. So everyone experiences different symptoms, some even have none at all.
And I think Valentines would be a WONDERFUL surprise for me

Ack.... So the two tests I took were blue dye which I didn't realize was an issue until reading on this site. Both came back with an instant positive. I guess I will try with a pink one but wont be able to till tomorrow night. So now I have to wait again
On the plus side I still have not gotten my period l. I am now 10 days past due.
Is the issue with blue that people test too early and get evaporated lines or doesn't it matter?

Blue dyes are tricky because they can show a faint line even when the test is negative. However, if your line came up quickly, was dark/clear, and was thick (like the control line), you can probably trust the results. It never hurts to back it up with a pink dye test, though. If you do, please let us know what happens!

So I tested tonight with a pink dye first response and got two lines so another positive. I'm going to try to stop the crazy testing till my doctors appointment.
