Hi,

My name is Ann I am 30 and a mother of 3 children ages 7, 8 and 10. I never thought I would be going through this again but then I met my DF who has no children of his own and we decided to ttc in April the reason we chose April is because I am high risk. I take a lot of meds a lot of which are class c & d and I wanted to wean off them before we ttc. I kinda messed up on my BC last month and now I might be pregnant. Normally I would be overjoyed but right now I am scared because as I said I am on a lot of meds that can't just be stopped. My OB and I discussed which ones I could stop right away and did a blood pregnancy test yesterday but we think we will need to wait until next week and test again to make sure it's not a false result. I want my baby to be born in healthiest way possible hence my fear. During my other 3 pregnancies I didn't take any meds unless told to by my OB. I should also mention I have not had a regular AF since Sept so I don't really know where my cycle is at except for by the BC pills which tell me if I did have a AF it would be due this sun through next sat. Also I have been nauseous, urinating more and crampy. I am hoping that posting here some of you might have some stories you can tell me or put me at ease a bit. Sorry I rambled a bit...

Hi and welcome! So you had a blood test done...what was the result?

As for the meds you are taking, keep in mind that plenty of women don't know that they're pregnant for the first couple of weeks and keep right on taking medicine, smoking, drinking, etc. It's not ideal but it happens and quite often, the baby is fine. The important thing is you are formulating a plan with your OB to weigh the benefits of the drugs vs. the dangers. You are doing all that you can do in that regard. Beyond that, I would just suggest taking good care of yourself in every other aspect. Eat right, try not to stress, take your prenatals, etc.

I know it's hard, but try not to worry. I bet everything will be fine.

Thank you sooo much for this. I was actually thinking about what you said before I logged back on here and read this. I would rather come at it from being on no meds at all but there is a very good chance our baby will be ok if I am pregnant. I don't get the blood results back until tomorrow so we will know then what that says then they will repeat it the 7th if still no AF. Thank you again for the kind words and warm welcome.

I was in your same boat when I first ended up PG. But my dr said for the most part we'd wean at a faster speed than normal and get to no meds, Its not ideal, but every little bit helps! Good luck

You're most welcome! Please let us know the results of the blood test when they come in.

I haven't been on this board very long, but welcome!

And yes, you are very right for going about this the right way. Having a baby coming in with no meds is important. It's nice to see someone so concerned about the outcome of a pregnancy. Very refreshing to see. Wishing you the best of luck and looking for good results!
