Hello everyone. So a little background, I have been taking birth control for the past year but this past December my prescription ran out and the pharmacy needed to get my prescription renewed through my Physician. Long story short, my insurance provider gave me a hard time with covering my birth control again and I went through the month of December with no birth control. Finally in January everything was straightened out with my insurance provider and I started my birth control again on the first day of my menstrual cycle in January. I took it every day on time in the month of January. Side note, my boyfriend and I have been sexually active through out this whole time but used other precautions during December and January. Well my period was scheduled to arrive on the 31sr of January. It is now the 5th of February and no period or symptoms that I might get it soon. No cramping, nothing! The only symptoms I've been feeling lately is bloating, and nausea at night but only after I've taken my birth control which I am still taking. I did notice on the 30th of January that I had a little spotting when I went to the bathroom so I thought it was coming on time, but the next day there was nothing. My periods are usually always on time, when I get to the placebo part of my pack, my period always comes. Should I get a home pregnancy test? How soon can I test? I could use some advice.

Hi and welcome! If you took the pill every day on time, you're probably not pregnant. My guess is that your body is just having to adjust to being on the pill again. However, if you did get pregnant, you would be able to take a test now since your period is late. It certainly couldn't hurt to take one--if for no other reason than to ease your mind.

Hope that helps!

I say test. That's the only way you can be sure. Keep us updated!

Ok, I'll go get a home pregnancy test and use it tonight after work, and I will post the results. I figured I could test by now but I wanted to be sure so I could get an accurate reading.
