total noob - BFN then BFP?

I'm two days late, I use iperiod to track my cycle and according to it, my period was due on the 27th. My cycle is usually 26 days. I had some spotting (like, one wipe and it was gone) on the 21st.
I took a test this morning and it was negative.
You ladies are way more experienced at this than I am. What should I do now?

I just read on someone else's thread that she got a negative when she was 2 days late but then positive when she was 7 days late. So, I'm holding out hope.

Hi and welcome! The spotting on the 21st is a good sign. My guess is that you ovulated later than you expected and you will either get a positive result or your period in the next few days. I would definitely test again in a couple of days.

I will try to wait a couple of days before I test again, but it's hard to resist!

I've gone back through the months on my tracker and found that for the past year, every single month, when the tracker says it's my ovulation day, my period starts exactly 14 days later.
For March, it says I ovulated on the 13th, the spotting was one week after that, and then my period was due on the 27th.

Took another test this morning, BFN.
I'm now 6 days late. I already had a doctor's appointment scheduled for thursday for something else, so if I haven't started by then I will ask him for a blood test.
I've never been this late!

I have searched and searched the internet looking for posts from women who have gotten BFN's after their period was late and then a BFP later.
Have any of you done that?

It's definitely possible, but usually because the woman ovulated later than she thought. There are some women, though, who don't secrete hcg into their urine as fast so they will get a positive blood test long before a positive urine test. Good luck!

Well, I'm hoping I did ovulate later than I thought. Thursday can't get here soon enough. I have some HPT's at home so I'm sure I will use them even though I know I should just wait until the doctor's appointment!

Honestly if youve been trying to get pregnant..stress can delay ovulation or even stop it from happening..I know that doesnt help but its just one of the many random things I learned in my early days of nurse training..LOL

I haven't been trying. I didn't want to say that here, because there are so many that have been trying for so long. I track my period with an app so I know how many days hubby and I have left to get busy

. I opened my tracker to check and it said I was 1 day late.

Oh don't feel bad about that. We get ladies here who do want to be pregnant, who don't want to be pregnant, who are terrified of being pregnant, and everything in between.

Oh Yah we've all said that one before. At least you can be honest & know there is no way to hold out sometimes. Especially when you're late.
My cycles are normally 28 days. This cycle I'm on CD 40 and pretty sure I O the latest ever have at CD36. So there is always hope. Dont give up yet.

My cycles are normally 26 or 28 days and I'm on CD34. I have not charted or temped so I don't know when exactly I ovulated. My tracker estimated it to be the 13th of March but I suppose it could have been any time.
