Hi,
I had blood work done for my last pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage

Here are the dates and hcg levels:
3/5 59
3/9 270
3/12 551
3/14 557-this is when the miscarriage was determined.

I was told to come back for more blood work to make sure the numbers drop.
Here are those results:

3/20 first day of period.
3/22 131
3/30 11
Then I did not go in because I figured that it was dropping so quickly it would hit 0 in no time.
We started trying again and I just went in for bloodwork.
4/16 My level is an 8.

Is it possible for my 11 hcg count to drop extremely slowly and that 8 is from the previous miscarriage, or would an hcg of an 8 this many weeks after the 11 mean a new pregnancy...

IMO, your levels should have finished dropping quite some time ago. The only way to know for certain is to repeat the bloodwork in 48hrs and see what its doing then.
GL and KUP!!

I also agree but if I were going to guess, I'd guess you've got a new pregnancy. Can't wait to hear what the next blood test shows!

Just my 2C. When we were getting our testing done to make sure I was able to have children again, my hcg level was 5. I was not pregnant, had not been in years nor had any reason to suspect I was.

If you have questions, call your doctor and speak with the nurse. Ask if the level ever goes to 0, if the hormone can stay in your system for that length of time or if any other occurrence in the body can make the numbers hover in that range. Why make yourself crazy of it?

When I had my miscarriage my last draw she said my levels were below five and that anything below five was considered negative and if it was above five then that would be positive and I'd have to come back in for another draw to make sure it dropped below that. Mine dropped quickly and it sounds like yours did too so IMO if your is just now 8 when they was 11 a couple wks ago then I would guess a new pregnancy but i'd repeat another blood draw to be sure.

I am also more likely to think new pregnancy. Good luck! I hope the next blood draw shows increased hCG!
