UPDATE- Today I'm 6 dpo and I am experiencing mild cramping with pink discharge. I noticed the "spotting" when I wiped and it's streaky with egg white discharge. Do you think it could be a really short luteal phase or implantation bleeding? With my other pregnancies I never had any bleeding but I also had regular periods. Since this is my first postpartum ovulation, I'm leaning toward a short luteal phase defect.

Hi everyone, my name is Becca and I have been on JM for a while. I am the mother to two beautiful little boys I introduced myself earlier but have been lurking after I'm believed to have had a chemical pregnancy. I am currently breastfeeding my 13 month old son and my postpartum AF still hasn't arrived. My husband and I decided to try for another baby and I recently bought some opks because I wasn't sure if or when I was ovulating. I have been peeing on opks almost every day to see if I could catch my first ovulation. On Thursday(4/26) I finally got a definite positive (pic below) and I got the same results Friday morning (4/27). My husband and I dtd twice on Thursday and once Friday morning. Unfortunately, we went on vacation for the rest of the weekend and were unable to dtd anymore. I am new to using opk's and am not totally sure how they work. I'm wondering if you guys think we missed our opportunity because we dtd too early and do you think there is any chance we could get pregnant?

I think you fine, you ovulate 24-36 hours after a positive result.Sperm can live up to 5 day,2-3 likely.

Thanks for replying I'm hopeful but will be ok if my period would finally start. That way I can get a better idea of when I ovulate and really start ttc. If I actually did conceive, would breast feeding cause me to mc?

I find with the IC opks, like the one you have there, they tend to give me a positive the day of ovulation. I use those and the digi opks and I get a smiley face on the digi opks about 24 -36 hours before ovulation, but the IC opks are still negative on that day, then finally the next day they are also positive, only a about 6-12 hours before ovulation. So to be on the safe side, I would start dtd when they get close to positive, and then continue through the next 2-3 days as well. One thing that worked well for us was the sperm meets the egg plan, this way there is always fresh swimmers waiting for the egg.

You can most def get preggers with an OPK like that and dtd the timing you did. I would say you have a higher chance of conceiving a girl now too. Good luck, hope your pregnant! Also breastfeeding would not affect the pregnancy this early. It does not correlate to having a MC. Im a nurse

We would love to add a little girl to our family I guess I was just wondering if it could cause a MC due to breast feeding maybe causing a short luteal phase..

That definitely sounds like a good plan, I'll try that with the next cycle

I heard breastfeeding causes your uterus to contract which can cause a mc.
