I just bought a (very expensive!!!!) box of OPK's and was looking for a little advice on how to best use them from you experienced ladies who love to pee on things.
First off, I went to a couple of dollar stores and while they both had pregnancy tests, neither had OPK's so I bought from the pharmacy, 7 for $40 yikes. I am in Toronto (Canada), anyone else in Canada know where to get cheaper ones???

Anyway back to the point...I am CD8 now and so excited to pee on things but don't want to blow my money. Last cycle was 29 days so I guess I O'd day 15 although I had no idea even though I was checking my cm (so sad and clueless).

When should I start the OPK's?

Do I use one every day after that until I get a positive, or every other day?

Do I continue after a positive until I get another negative?

I would start the OPK's around CD12/CD13, take one every day until you get a positive. Just to be sure you are aware if you are using the strip tests, the test line must be as dark as or darker than the control line to be considered positive.

It is normally recommended that you use the OPK between 2pm and 5pm, a little bit later shouldn't be a problem. Read the instructions though as I know there was one brand that recommends FMU (can't remember which brand).

I personally test until it goes negative which means I normally have 2 days of positives. I normally O within 24 hours of my 1st positive test.

Good luck!

I just wanted to add that my first 2 months using OPK's I started testing with them from around CD9 and would test around 2pm and then again at 6pm, just so I could understand a bit better what my body was doing. It is a bit of a costly exercise, but it helped me.

Thanks Laura! I will try to hold off another 2 days...I just want to confirm that I actually ovulated and get a better idea of when to expect af or hopefully a bfp!

Does anyone know where to get inexpensive OPK's in Canada? Should I check online?

YES I am in Canada and I buy mine from ether saveontests.com Pregnancy Test and Ovulation Predictor Kits - Buy tests at cheap wholesale prices for less than $0.30 per test kit. (there very close in Vancouver)or earlypregnancytests.com Ovulation Tests (Test Strip Format) you can get them for like 55cents each I buy many HPT and OPKs lol

I usually ovulate in between CD 13 and CD 16 so I start testing on CD 8 and I test 3-4 times a day until I get my + then until I get a - I get 1-2 days of +s and I O usually 24hrs after my last +

Thanks so much!!! I just dropped $40 for 7 OPK's at Shopper's Drug Mart! I opened the box already and am showing much restraint not peeing on them yet (I am CD10 today) so if this cycle is a bust with my super expensive ones I will look into more affordable ones that I will pee on from CD8 or something. This addictive POAS is catchy, the threads here are totally cracking me up, I totally get it, I am anxious to do it, but I hate the bfn's on the pg tests...

Now on CD11 no egg white yet so I am trying to hold out and not pee on anything...those OPK's are calling me, I think tomorrow I will start them. I probably should hold out one more day to CD13 especially if there is no sign of fertile cm but I am so excited!!!
Last month was 29 days so O'd on CD15, I think I should hold out until Monday but I doubt that I can.

I use the Wondfo opks from amazon. Super cheap and very accurate. I use them with FMU though and they match perfectly to my temp chart so I feel confident in the results.
GL!!! Catch that eggie!!

I will check on Amazon, thanks for that. Sometimes I can't get shipment of certain things in Canada but hopefully I won't need to check into it for next month if I do manage to catch my egg!
Did you test yet Shilo?? I have been waiting to hear what you see...a mother's day bfp?

With my second to last baby I used opk and tested positive on cd 14 out of a 28 day cycle. So when I was looking to be pregnant again I went off of the fact that my cycles were again 28 days so I begin testing at cycle date 11. It seemed to be taking for ever so when I was six months into it I decided to test at cycle day nine just for the heck of it and I was shocked to find that I had a positive test that day at cycle day nine! DH and I immediately got to it and then resulted in my eight-month-old Emma!

I am going to start peeing on them today! You settled the issue Stephane, thanks! I have a slight change to my cm but it is not EWCM yet. Still I will start the OPK's today, and hopefully catch my egg!
