I went to the doctor yesterday, and told them about the signs I've been having.. I'm 2 weeks late on my period, pressure in my lower belly.. and my upper part is sore/bigger.. anyway, they took a pee sample from me, and gave me a pelvic exam, and also gave me an ultrasound, on the top of my belly, and another well inside.. anyway, the pee test came back negative, and the pelvic exam the doctor said everything looked okay there.. but when I went for my ultrasound, I had my mom go in with me,a different doctor did the ultrasound, he did the one on the top of my belly first, he took about 3 pictures, and on them, it had something written out from it called a 'UT sac' with a bunch of numbers beside of it.. it was like 1775.--- somethin i dont know.. he did the ultrasound on the inside, took more pictures, when he was done, he asked me again, "so you've never been pregnant before?" I said, "nope".. anyway, what my concern is, my mom knew what a UT sac is, and she explained it to me, but when the doctor came in, he said everything looked fine, and said I wasn't pregnant, but he said I had white blood cells in my urine, which means I have a UTI, and asked me to take another pregnancy test in 1 week.. and gave me antibiotics for my UTI, which was only 250mg.. if I wasnt pregnant why would he ask me to take another test in 1 week?.. I looked online, and seen where the baby doesn't form inside the UT sac until the 4th to 5th week of pregnancy, but varies from woman to woman.. Has anyone ever experienced this before?..

I've been spotting since yesterday, but today I'm spotting with really mild cramps.. I'm scared maybe it's a sign of a miscarriage, because I've seen online that a lot of women had gone through a pelvic exam/pap smear, and ended up miscarrying, is cramping normal after a pelvic exam/pap smear? it was the very first one I've had before..
The pain I have on a scale of 0-10, 10 being worse is like a 1..

If you do end up getting AF chances are that this was a chemical pregnancy. Those are always such downers. however! i come bearing wonderful news on the whole early ultrasound. I was 4w when i went to the doctor with severe cramping in my abdomen. it turned out to be constipation which i had never experienced in my adult life. they did an u/s just to be sure and didn't find anything except for a little blip on the right side of my uterus and told me they were concerned it was ectopic. i'm happy to report i'm still pregnant with an active little stinker at 15w 4d.

i popped positive on a test at 11dpo and it was DARK but there are some people who have to wait until after AF is due to get a clear result. good luck on which ever out come you are hoping for!

as far as cramping i don't think it's usual for a pap smear/exam but perhaps the u/s is what did it. after my first one at 4 weeks i had mild cramping and i spotted a little bit afterwards. so i think you're alright. it's probly just the pressure from the scanner pushing on your uterus that hurts.

Thanks for the reply!, the only thing I can think of, is maybe I'm really too early to even get a positive, and the UT sac they seen in the ultrasound, maybe the baby hasn't formed inside it yet, thus giving me a negative pregnancy test.. or maybe I'm just paranoid! lol, I'll test again next week like the doctor told me, that is, if I haven't started by then.. Thanks again for the reply! and congrats on your little one!!

I don't want to get your hopes but to be honest it doesn't sound like a miscarriage or a chemical pregnancy. If you had taken a pregnancy test and those were both happening, it would have turned up positive. Even ectopic pregnancies come up positive because regardless of what is actually going on, your body is preparing for a baby, if it's not then there's nothing there. I once had a blighted ovum which is where the sac forms but there is no baby inside, so basically I was growing a water bubble and my test came back positive for a pregnancy. I was 10 weeks along when they found there was not an actual baby and I had to have D&E surgery to have it removed.

He may have suggested taking another pregnancy test later if you had stated your AF was still late, if you had told him you were spotting he may not have suggested it. I'm crossing my fingers for you for next month but at this point it seems as if your AF was just a bit late.

unless you ovulated late like i did. I ovulated FOUR weeks after my LMP rather than the TWO weeks it should have been. you never know for sure until the little witch shows up.

well here's a little update.. I didn't start spotting or cramping until after the pelvic exam the other day.. today when I went to the bathroom there was blood(of course), enough to wear a pad.. but it really doesn't look like a period, fore my period blood is usually a darker color.. I could fill a pad within 3-4hrs, the blood flow really isn't that bad.. I think the reason it was so bad this morning was because I was laying down, and maybe the blood built up?.. I'm not sure, but the cramping I'm having isn't like a period cramp, it's coming from where they had scraped my cervix with the qtip thing they used. then again I could just be going around the fact that maybe it is my period.. I've never had a pap smear or a pelvic exam before.. until the one I had the other day, so I'm not sure what to think right now

Since the dr. told you that you were not pregnant, I highly doubt they saw anything in there that would mean pregnancy.

Dr. probably told you to test again in a week just in case you were just too early to tell.

But as of the times you tested and got the u/s, you were not pregnant. If they saw something they would have told you more then that you were not pregnant.

I'm so sorry, but I agree. If there was a sac seen on your ultrasound, both a urine test and blood test would have been positive, no matter when you ovulated.

Our bodies and hormones can do crazy things...I hope your body sorts itself out soon so you aren't feeling so much stress

I am sure he was labeling the uterus on the picture. If he was labeling a gestational sac, he would have used GS. I am betting he was meaning to type UT sag, for sagittal view. Also, he wouldn't tell you that you were not pregnant if you were.

Good luck!

im going to be the odd man out and say anything is possible. with this pregnancy, i had a urine test done, it came up negative... i went in for a blood draw, it came up negative.. and i WAS in fact pregnant, but only 3 weeks... but that is far enough that a blood test would pick up, and it did not. at 3 weeks preg a normal HCG is 5-50.. which depending on exactly how much HCG, a blood draw most DEFINITELY should, and possibly a HPT could pick up.. but for me it didnt

If it's too early then a test can be negative because a pregnancy is only considered positive after a certain level of HCG. Some women can have trace amounts of it always.

I had a blood test at 8dpo and it came out negative, less than 5 but several days later I got a positive home pregnancy test. It's not that the blood test was wrong, it's just that it was too early for it to be considered pregnancy. But I'd say that is why the dr. said to test again in a week. As of the timing of the testing she was not pregnant, even a u/s won't pick it up super early because there is nothing to see.

im saying for me it definitely should have picked up you would assume.. there were no traces of HCG at all in my blood test, i asked.. the whole problem here was at home i WAS getting BFPs, very very faint, but visible on ICs.. but my blood test and the doctor's urine test, which we all know isnt that sensitive.. but the neither picked up yet i was getting BFPs at home on IC's.. when i had my MC in Jan, i had an HCG of below 5 and the IC picked that up even..

Actually, I had an u/s done at 4 weeks. There was a tiny little blip in the right wall of my uterus. That was where the implantation twinges were and is also where my healthy little bean is still attached! But to be fair they sent me to nuclear medicine and I was given a high resolution u/s. They told me they couldn't say for sure it was my baby yet but I knew. I also had a really thick endometrium which the tech said was "really great!" So perhaps you are and perhaps you aren't. If the doctor didn't mention anything about your endometrium being thickened though I'd say you aren't. Unless you have been previously diagnosed with a thin endometrium during your cycles.

It would be highly unethical to tell you, you are not pregnant, when you have a gestational sac in your uterus. To have a gestational sac, you would have to have HCG. You may very well still be pregnant if this is not indeed your period, however, if there was anything in your uterus that even suggested a pregnancy, they would have to disclose that to you, it would be unsafe and unethical not to.

I want to add that anything is possible. I knew a girl that all her urine and blood tests kept coming up negative. But she still didn't get her period and her belly was getting bigger. So she kept going to the doctor and they kept telling her she wasn't pregnant. She let it go on then when she felt like there was something moving. She went back to the doctor and both tests came out negative again. She finally demanded an u/s and low and behold she was 5 months pregnant. So needless to say anything is possible.

I am an ultrasound tech and my best guess is that it actually said "UT sag" not "sac". Sag means sagittal and it is a certain plane that we look at the uterus in. I could be wrong here, but that is my best guess.
