Hi there, just signed up to post this, never been pregnant before so I'm a bit new to all this!
For the past three or so years I've been on the pill and whilst my boyfriend and I would like kids in the future we haven't been trying. Last month we went on holiday and with the lack of routine and changing time zones I ended up missing a fair few pills, mostly middle and end of the pack. I'd say 5-6 pills. I didn't think much of it as I didn't notice anything different straight away.
When we got back I had my "period" like normal (I know it's not really a period as when you're on the pill you're not meant to be ovulating, which is getting me very confused when trying to find info online - obviously you don't get real periods during pregnancy but can taking the pill early on before you know you're pregnant still case these bleeds or would this stop too due to the changing hormones?)
Anyway, I'm now mid-way into my new pill packet and so not expecting any pre-menstrual symptoms for at least a week, but over the past few days I've been feeling a bit different: at first I was just feeling tired, but that can be lots of things. Nausea and lower back pain are also not good indicators as I have those a lot, lol. But now there are numerous other things that I would normally associate with being on or about to get my "period" such as feeling different...down there, bloatedness, tender breasts, greasy hair and skin, and other things too, like slight abdominal cramps, constipation, headaches (which I almost never get) and even increased thirst and ingrown hairs, which I only just discovered yesterday can be suddenly very common during pregnancy! I haven't, however, noticed any spotting.
I'd like to test and just know one way or the other, but I don't know whether waiting to miss my pill "period" will help! If I am pregnant, how many days since ovulation could I be? Should I just test now or would it probably be too early?

I got pregnant on the pill and my period just didn't come on my off week. The pill won't force a period if you somehow gotten pregnant on it.
Since you had a period, my guess would be it's hormones from not taking the pill correctly, but if you are worried, take a test anyways. If you don't want to get pregnant right now, you need to get on a better schedule with your pills or explore a form of BC that doesn't require you to remember everyday.
Any possible ovulation was probably already prevented from the timing of your missed pills, but missing the pill could cause the body to do anything, really. Also, if you conceived then that period you had would have prevented any implantation because the fertilized egg would have needed the lining to implant in and grow.
I would also like to add that, a fertile couple who is trying to conceive and they have relations on the perfect timing for ovulation, still only have a 20% chance to conceive. So it seems unlikely that with all this, you would be pregnant.
Thanks to *Sharon* for the siggy <3
Thanks for your reply. I agree it's unlikely. It's just strange having so many symptoms. Today I even got bad heartburn, even though I've almost never had it. I guess I'll wait it out until the end of my pill pack. Should get an answer then!
