Hi ladies ,

So I took both tests today with same fmu . It seems to me I have lines on both & am now confused !
Let me explain...

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks over New Years and since have had 4 periods - the first two irregular (came very close together & were very short in length) & the next two more regular , with my last period on 1st April coming after 28 days & for 5 days . My usual before the mc was every 29/30 days for 5/6 days so this indicated to me that my cycles returning back to normality.

DH & I decided to start TTC again from this month and as I didn't feel like chatting or temping I assumed I would O around CD15-18 as I did before mc when I used to chart ( I used to always get positive OPKs CD15 & CD16).

Anyhow , today is CD16 & I decided what the heck, let me try an opk and hpt since I have so many ic lying around from last time. What I got was:

Opk: test line was 'abit' lighter than control line. Maybe 1-2 shades lighter, definitely there but also definitely slightly lighter than control.

Hpt: a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy light line . I can't be 100% sure it's not an evap but looked like it has some colour to it. Will wait for it to dry & check again.

My Q is : it can't be a bfp , surely it is too early unless I O very very early on this cycle? But than again I am having lots of aches & one sided cramping since 2 days so I thought I was O'ing these days?! Or maybe I am O'ing twice ?!

It's the first hpt I have taken since mc as I had my 'periods' every month so I assumed the hormone would be out of my system now.

What do you ladies think?! I will try uploading the pics in a bit & ofcourse test again in few days.

Can you possibly post a pic of the two tests? DId the line on the hpt show up within the time limit? I myself have had four consecutive miscarriages since march of 2012. Each time my AF returned right on time, right on schedule, but lasted 7 days as opposed to my usual 5 and my cycles are now 29 days as opposed to 28. So no real big changes. I also would usually get a positive OPK on cd 14 and O on CD 15. Now, after the miscarriages, I O anywhere from CD 9 to CD 12. I didn't realize this until two cycles ago and also it isn't consistent. So normally I would have started testing with an OPK on CD 12 and was never getting a positive. Then I read about women Oing early and missing their surge so I decided to test starting on CD 9 and found I was Oing earlier and missing my surge all together. I was fearful I was no longer Oing. It turned out I am Oing before I would have even began testing. So with that being said, you may have already Od and possibly got pregnant, albeit extremely early but not impossible. IF you Od on CD 9 and implanted on CD 14-15, then you may be seeing a true, light positive. On the other hand, the light line on the hpt could be an evap or a dye run. I have used OPKs as HPTs with my pregnancy last June and I was getting Positive OPKs before I got a positive HPT. I had positive OPKs for about 5 days. I knew it was too late for O and took and hpt and it turned out positive. It would be helpful to see pics if possible. However, An FRER or Answer Test may show a line if truly pregnant by now. I hope you get some answers and hope this helps. I hope I didn't confuse you.

the lines are appearing much lighter in the photos than they actually are!!

Thank you for your reply, it made complete sense !

and you're right, I have read that you are more fertile after a mc for anywhere from 1-6 months , so it makes sense to ovulate quickly, but only time will tell, its just that seeing something that clearly resembled a line was quite shocking on the hpt !

I couldn't see anything in the pictures - but I have also read that HCG levels (what causes the HPT to be positive) can also cause an OPK to be positive. So I think that is a possibility.

Just in case it is an evap or something of the like I would keep BDing just in case and test again in a few days.

Best of luck to you!!!!!

I have seen an HPT have a super faint positive around O time. However I have also seen super early O's as well. It could go either way at this point. You have the right idea, test again.

Exactly, its too early to tell either way ...it could have been an evap or it could be a super faint line. Either ways will have to test again ! It was just suprising that I saw something on a hpt around O time , time will tell.

Yes we are planning to continue to BD a couple more times if possible to be on safe side, however if I have O'd earlier than we only BD's once , on CD8 and then nohting until CD12 so i don't know what is happening...

Did you take them at the same time? If an OPK and a HPT touch at all when they are wet, the OPK can cause the HPT to have a positive result.

No, I took opk first & than the hpt afterwards , both from same cup of FMU though. All my cramping could just be O related or perhaps indigestion as I have a lot of acidity ! I will retest tmw or day after.

I would say that its the start to your bfp. Are you going to retest?

I would disregard the Ovulation test all together. I have heard so many mixed opinions on wether ovulation tests detect pregnancy or not. I thought also that the ovulation test would have to be positive if HCG detected. It is so confusing and just not reliable that I would just skip using ovulation tests to detect pregnancy. Bad idea in my opinion. I would instead try another pregnancy test with FMU. I do see a faint line with the pregnancy test. If it appears pink in color than that is a good sign of a starting BFP. Good luck.

By the way... are those tests from early-pregnancy-tests.com? Those HPT's give horrible evaps. I never buy any of their products anymore.

That OPK is negative. The control line and test line will always be there. The test line would be as dark or darker than the control to be positive. I try to see something on the HPT but I don't see anything. I would wait a couple days and test again. Fingers crossed you get your positive.

I took hpt again this morning & again confused . I don't see anything but I see something if you know what I mean ! It is one of those could-be-imaginary lines! We are going to BD again just to be sure although I don't feel upto it with the dull cramping & backache :S

More than the hpts it is the backach & cramping that is confusing me , I never get it this bad mid cycle , only had it twice before , once when I got my bfp & another time when I believe I may hv had a chemical preg but I can't be sure of that ( at that time I got a faint line but it disappeared next day and AF was few days late & when it came I had major back ache & cramping so it could have been a chemical but no way to be sure.......the next time I had such aches and cramps bfr AF was when I got my bfp but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks).

Can you post the pic of the newest hpt? If you hold a bright light behind the test or hold it up to the light in say, the fridge (don't judge me....true POAS addict here lol) you can see if the line has color.

The fridge ? Lol I won't judge , that is true POAS addiction talking! I threw the stick in trash & trash is now out! Will test again in a day or so but the cramping and aches are much less now so I'm thinking maybe it was Ovulation related after all , so BD-ing is the way!
