Was anyone sucessful in conceiving by using the BBT temps? I've never ever charted down my temps before until now because it was advised by my fertility doctor to do so until our next several visits with her. From most that I've talked to, they said taking temps never worked for them.

I usually chart down the different stages of Cervical Mucous.

Taking temps can help you predict ovualtion, as well pregnancy - if the temp stays up rather than drop before AF is due, you have a great chance of being pregnant....... that being said however, the concept of temp taking is very controvercial - the way I see it?

It can't hurt - it can however put ALOT of stress on the relationship! I would hate for DH to feel like I only wanted him because I had a temp spike ya know? No S...E....X slaves in my house less that's the game we're playing that night *winks.

I used a combination of BBT and CM. Some people get stressed out about temping, but I don't. It helped me identify when I ovulated and then it also helped me figure out when to test. I had a sharp temp rise at 12 DPO and tested...that's when I got my BFP. Best of luck to you!

You can, but learning to accurately observe your cervical mucus will give you just as much information. It just requires a little more training to learn to really get into the specifics of what your mucus pattern is telling you, but most people use temps because you dont' need much training to interpret temperature patterns.

The downside to temps is that they offer ZERO information about when you will ovulate, they only confirm it after the fact. Your cervical mucus will tell you when you are fertile and will give information about impending ovulation - very important for conceiving. Especially important so you don't have wear yourself out with BDing all the time when you're not even fertile yet, like when ovulation is going to be late. Mucus will tell you all that.

We have always used mucus-only charting systems for TTC and TTA, the Billings Ovulation Method and the Creighton Model. www.woomb.org and www.fertilitycare.org

This was my first month temping and I got a BFP!! If I hadn't been temping, I wouldn't have because I ovulated late and wouldn't have even known it. So, I say it is worth a try...it did stress me out a bit, which is why I think I O'd late, but it is very interesting to see.

ETA, it is more of a confirmation that you did "O", so if you worn out in the BD department, you can take a break! You can't tell when you are going to o, just that you have.

Charting my temps helped me alot. It helped me to determine what my normal temps were throughout ovulation. I knew I was pregnant because of my temperature. It's supposed to drop after ovulation and then AF shows but my temp never went back down so I knew that was it.

Temping is VERY important and had alot to do with making my 3 year fight to become pregnant, happen.

It can be helpful if there is a noticeable pattern. Some women won't display a consistent pattern if their cycles are irregular or there are other health problems. It's helpful when you're trying to predict ovulation if you pay close attention to repeated patterns in your cycle.
