When my daughter was young she had Reflux, but grew out of it by 5 months. Well my son has had reflux since he was about 2 months old and he still screams all the time and he is 8 months. I was just wondering if anyone has had a child go on with their reflux until this long? I mean is there anything I can do for him? I have tried different formulas and nothing helps. Seemed that the Soy, made him not gain as much weight and was always behind in his charts. So we went back to the Milk based. I guess I am just need reasurrance that things will get better. And if anyone has had a child have this go on for a while! Thanks for listening!

Howdy!
So what does the pediatrician say? Is it definitely reflux?
Have you tried any meds? Most babies with reflux use meds - zantac, prilosec, prevacid, etc. Has your ped prescribed any for you? If not, I'd push for that right away.
You've tried soy formula and milk formula - what about the hypoallergenic ones like Allimentum and Nutrimagen and Neocate? Could be a formula allergy.
What other symptoms does he have? Does he vomit/spit up? Arch while drinking a bottle? Anything else?
Could it be teething, ear infections, something else?

I asked him about medicine and he said that he will just grow out of it. That by his 9 month appointment he will probably be done but some kids go until at the most a year. He will be ok in his bouncer for a while and then start crying. If I hold him for a while he can get aggitated. When I put him on the floor to play around he is good for about 20 minutes. The only time he is happy is if he is sleeping or in his crib or eating. I have tried every kind of formula and nothing has worked. He doesn't really arch his back. He just screams. He doesn't spit up at all. He has sign of teeth, but nothing. No signs of a lot of drool or diarrhea. I also don't feed him any solid foods. He just gets the formula. I hope that helps! I will ask my doctor next time I see him but he might just say the same thing.

If I were you I'd get a second opinion. Why not try reflux meds if they could potentially help him? Babies do cry, but by 8 months I don't think they generally cry that much. So to me something is hurting him.
Why no solid food yet? I think babies need an additional source of iron by 6 months other than just formula. Peds say to start on solids from 4-6 months for that reason. Plus if it really is relfux, solid foods help so much!

My little guy is almost a year and it has never gotten better. I was told the same things, he will outgrow it after 6 mos, after 9 mos, after a year...no sign of that yet. I am surprised your dr. didn't prescribe anything, usually they can't wait to prescribe, lol! I am trying to find a cure or something that actually helps without all the side effects of the meds. I'll let you know if I do.
Good luck and hang in there!
