For those of you whose LO is taking prevacid...how old were they when they started and what was the dose. My son is 7 weeks old and has been diagnosed with reflux. His doctor put him on Zantac but his feeding specialist feels prevacid is better. There is a question however of him being to young to take it...ThanksMarcella

Calleigh was born 10weeks early and was placed on prevacid in the nicu at under 4lbs and 3weeks old or 7 weeks not old lol....

Calleigh started on 1ml/3mg daily, then 1ml/3mg twice daily, now at 5.5m is on axid 1ml and prevacid 1.5ml/3mg 2 times daily.....

They should be able to call a GI specialist in your childrens hospital for exact doses because it goes by weight and severity also.

Good luck They gave it straight in her ng tube now we just give it to her out a nipple straight good luck if i can help in any other way let me know and welcome

The boys started it at 38 weeks, and took 3.1mg once a day, at 41 weeks they went up to 4.5mg and they're still on that--we just give it in a syringe during a feed

Nicola was on Zantac at 3 weeks of age. Zantac did nothing for Nicola. The prevacid seems to be doing the trick. She has been on Prevacid for a couple weeks now... taking 7mg twice daily. She is 12 weeks old today and we go to the doctor today to find out if we will continue at that dose.... She is not even 9 lbs yet though... she is tiny!

Drew started Prevacid at 6 weeks. He started out at 1.5ml twice a day and now is at 2.8ml twice a day.

We started Ashlyn on Zantac at 3.5 weeks old, it didn't work, so she was on Prevacid by 4.5 weeks old. It worked better, but now we're considering adding Erythromycin to her regiment, as she's been refusing feedings.

My DD was born with a TE Fistula, has severe reflux, and a hiatal hernia. She is on on Prevacid twice a day 7.5mg each dose and she just started Erythomycin .5ml 4x a day. She was taking Reglan but it didnt help. It only made her extremely irritable. She has been taking the Prevacid since she was 3 days old in the NICU.

Natalie started Prevacid at 5 weeks. She gets 2.5 mL of the liquid once a day. It's not helping very much though.
