this board was here! my Nicola has GERD and wow, has it been a rocky road! They had her on Zantac from the age of 3 weeks until a couple weeks ago. The doctor changed her to prevacid. Since changing to prevacid, she does not cough up all of her meals, just every once in a while. The zantac did not seem to help her much at all. The only thing I don't like about prevacid is the cost. It is not covered by our drug plan, so it cost us $65 every 2 weeks! Anyway.... a quick intro on me.... I am Gwyn, mom to Gabriella (3 1/2), Alina (20.5 months) and Nicola (12 weeks). I am also a stepmother to Christian (12 1/2). I am married to Chris. We live in Prince Edward Island (home of Anne of Green Gables) in Canada.
Crystal, 2.5yrs old, is on nexium and axid with maalox for breakthru which hasn't been used for a bit since we watch her food like hawks.
Calleigh is 6m old, is on prevacid 3x's day, axid 2x's and a drug I go to canada for dompi because its better the reglan.
Both were born premature, Crystal at 32weeks and Calleigh at 30weeks. Calleigh was lucky and got placed on Prevacid right away in the NICU once she started having aspirates in her NG tube. Crystal I had to fight tooth and nail to get her seen and on medications once they tested her and saw the severity they finally understood why I was so on the ball.
Glad to have you here (well as much as you can be glad someones kid is suffering)... Hopefully Calleigh and Nicola will be the lucky kids that out grow this crap at 9-12months but Crystal was not shes going to be a life long sufferer
