My little man was just diagnosed with reflux last week, at 4 weeks old. He has been miserable since day 1. He's on Zantac, but we have not seen a big improvement yet. Just so you know, he eats Similac Alimentum.

Wesley cries a lot and sucks on his fist or arm, even right after he finished off a whole bottle. We try giving him his paci, but he usually just screams some more and throws it out of his mouth. We co-sleep, but now he roots around on my chest all night, fussing really bad. I'm afraid we will have to have him sleep in his crib, which he hates. Co-sleeping was the only way I slept at all.

Is it mormal for reflux babies to be desperate to suck/act out eating?

Lauren..

My son is also on Zantac. The thing I was told about it when my son first started is that it would take about 10 days to 2 weeks before you see any difference. That was true for us...once it started working though...he did great.

Hope that is somewhat helpful...

Hi lauren. From what I have seen it is normal for them to over eat. The swallowing of something makes them feel better. Of course then they over eat and throw up. Viscious cycle
