We are dealing with reflux in my son..he is 5 weeks. we have tried prevacid for the last week with it not making one bit of difference, he cries day and night, and can't sleep for more han 20 minutes, he wakes screaming. he doesn't do the spitting up, he swallows it..but he is some major pain..I am also thinking he has a gas problem..any other babies with reflux and gas issues? I am wondering if they go hand in hand..I can feel the bubbles in his little tummy, then he screams and cries and then burps and then I here him reflux..then he scream more..this all starts about 5 to 10 minutes after eating..then an hour later he'll want to eat again, and now I am wondering if it's not real hunger but gas and soothing the pain of reflux..
So we had prevacid for a week with no changes or getting better..in fact I think he is worse.Dr. said if this doesn't work we'd tryzantac, but I've been told that, that is not as good as the prevacid..Anyone have any luck with the zantac and not the prevacid?

I am at my wits end trying to help him.I have done everything I know and he just cries and screams in pain! i am so tired and exhausted as I am sure he is too. dr. keeps telling me different things to do with him to help, but I have done all he keeps mentioning, the only reason I called the dr. for meds is because that is my last resort..I've done all I can and know how to do.

I'm new to this board, but wanted to chime in here. I so feel your pain. My little girl, is just 12 weeks old and we are now on our 3rd different medicine for her reflux. We first tried Zantac - twice a day NO CHANGE then upped it to 3 times a day NO CHANGE! Then we moved on to Prevacid...no change. Now we are on Priolsec and so hoping it works this time. The only thing I can find that helps us is constantly carrying her in a carrier, we use the Baby Bijorn. I totally understand your frustration. Please feel free to PM me any time to vent. Hang in there!

I am new here as well. My LO is now almost 6 mos and we have been dealing with this since he was 3 wks. We tried Zantac twice a day with no help. He is on Prevacid twice a day and it seems to be helping. These are weight sensitive meds, so if your LO is growing fast you may need dosage adjustments. We have had to adjust his prevacid three times already. It also helps when he takes naps in his swing and at night he have him in a tucker sling. Seems to help with the congestion that comes with reflux as well. Is your LO BF or on formula? If he/she is on formula, (and if you aren't already doing so) try Similac Alimentum. Great for babies with reflux!! Good luck. It does slowly get better as they get older.
