I am a new mommy of twin boys who both have reflux. One of my boys is so miserable. We tried Zantac, prilosec, and previced which we currently use and he is also on Reglan 4 times a day. He went from eating 4 oz a day down to maybe an ounce. He wants to eat and he will for a few minutes and stop and cry out in pain and ball up his body. He is also choking and very congested a lot, but breathing out of his nose. I figuered I would get some good advice here. I had him on Enfamil Enfacare with rice cereal, but I just switched yesterday to the Prosobee formula hoping that would help and adding rice cereal.
Thank you Mod-trishosaurus for my beautiful siggy!
kolik gripe water from the canadian drugstore websites is a fabulous thing. i was able with all 3 of my older kids to completely get them off the zantac and though they would still spit up some but normally not painfully.. and personally after trial and error i went with good start and my kids did a complete turn around. nowhere near the feeding problems i had experienced before with my 3rd i went straight to good start and he was the easiest of the bunch. will do the same with the one on the way. good luck
We use gripe water too. Max had bad spit up and stomach pains as well. We switched him to enfamil nutramigen mixed with banana oatmeal cereal (rice constipated him) and it's gotten so so much better. Good luck and hang in there :-)
Wesley did the best on Similac Alimentum. It is designed for colic-y babies. He is still on it because his digestive issues were very serious. I would stick with the Reglan or other similar meds because even though Gripe water helps with digestion, it does not protect the esophagus the way the prescription meds too. We stuck with Axid, but nothing but him growing older really improved things. *hugs*
