My daughter Soph has had ongoing issues with reflux. She was FTT as an infant and has been slow to grow. She is finally (!!!!) at the 50th percentile for height and weight. Those of you with FTT kids know how much work this has been and how much of a success it is.
Soph has just been diagnosed with Aspergers (and anxiety and sensory issues) and the Paed told us that some of the most constipated children and those with the worst reflux have been Autistic babies and children. This gives me some relief as you can imagine I have been questioning everything since day 1.
Soph went back onto Prilosec at the start of the year because her reflux was really getting to her at night and none of the other lifestyle adjustments were working. We had her taking aloe and slippery elm capsules as well.
She developed a bacterial infection in her bowel as the Losec was killing off all the good bacteria in her stomach.
It's taken weeks to get her healthy again and her reflux is still giving her hell.
Does anyone here have a gerdling over 5? What sort of things do you do to help? I took Somac for years (for my own reflux -- I have a weak les muscle that can't be fixed) until I switched to Prilosec myself.
I'm wondering about starting her on Somac but I'm so scared about another bacterial infection in her bowel.

I don't have any experience with GERD over 5. My DS is 2, and still has some tummy issues. He is still under the 5% for height and weight. I am sorry she is still suffering at her age. Does she have a GI specialist?
