After being with adults pretty much all the time since age 18, it was funny to start working with teenagers - they have a funny (sometimes), frank way about them. Anyway, here are a few things I've learned...

I put on chapstick using 2 hands... I had no idea.
I smile a lot, perhaps too much (I'm hearing that less this year - it was probably a nervous smile).
Other people really DO notice when I have dry skin.
I use big words and funny words. The other day a couple girls pretty much lost it when I said "humdinger" and kept trying to make me say it again.
I look younger than I am.
And I look like Nicole Kidman!

Any similar experiences among you?

Oh my gosh...those are too funny!! Great question!

My 2nd graders always want to talk about how old I am! They usually say...my mom and/or dad is wayyyyy older than you are. LOL I'm not looking forward to the day they tell me I'm wayyyy older than their parents.

They also notice whenever I make a mistake.

Let me keep thinking about this!

Ohhhh.... yeah. When I have shared my age, there's often a student who will say his/her mom is about my age. THAT has definitely made me feel much older... these people are almost adults themselves!! I'm YOUNG, darnit!! I'm pregnant with my first!

This year they've noticed:
that some of my hairs are now white (as the junior in hs told me)
that I'm tired a lot
whenever I mispronounce a word or make a mistake

Yeah - ditto on students noticing mistakes. I'm totally grateful if they catch me bungling up an explanation, but I could do without the typo alerts!

This spring I got a new pink watch, and one of my students pointed it out. And then she goes, "GEE you where a LOT of pink!!!"

And form then on, I couldn't where ANYthing pink without the girls pointing it out. LOL

I have one little boy who notices everything about my hair - when I straighten it, when I leave it curly, when I cut it, when I color it - EVERYTHING! LOL!

I look like Taylor Swift.
My belly keeps getting BIGGER.
I always wear "those shoes".
I never wear my hair up.
I look like a teenager.
My desk is messy but always clean when they get there.

I teach kindergarten.

Mine say things like that, but I guess they haven't stuck with me.

Hmmm...

Miss, you know you have gray hair, right?
Did they have yearbooks when you were in high school?
What are you, like 40-something? (I just turned 30...)

I'm sure there are more. They mostly try to make me feel old.

Oooohhhh... how helpful!

My kids also tell me things I might not have been sure about. I already mentioned dry/chapped skin. But another really helpful thing is when they inform me that the phone is ringing... I had NO idea!!!
