Are you allowed to get on forums, blogs, YouTube, Facebook, personal email accounts, etc. at work? Are the students?

At the schools I have worked in, we've been allowed to use the internet for research/resources/business purposes at work. We've therefore been allowed to use emails, providing via the school Outlook, not hotmail, etc. We haven't been allowed to use it for personal use, even on breaks (mostly because of history etc etc and kids using the same computers) so no forums, blogs etc.

No...Pintrest worked for a while then they blocked it.
Teacher tube works but not You tube.
Teacher blogs are blocked but teacher forums work.

I can access JM and proteacher (though I don't typically). I can also access gmail. I do keep that open all day. Facebook is blocked. I've never tried blogs and I don't think youtube works. Not that I have much time for any of it.

We used to be able to and now they have us on lockdown!!! I don't necessarily agree with it. There is a lot of technology uses in blogs, forums, etc. It's the select few that ruin it for everyone.

Our new admin feels the same way and they've actually unblocked a lot! I don't choose to use Facebook (nor would I have the time), but I do occasionally check my gmail account. It's nice when I'm searching to actually be able to use YouTube, blogs, etc. for different things.
