If I have to be out I send my principal a text and she will call me back. And I have to enter the absense in subfinder - either through the automated phone call or online. I usually do it online so I can see which sub picks up the job. I usually go into school and set everything up for the sub. I have never taken a sick day for me - always for my kids. D stays home for a little while till I have school settled then he heads to work when I get back.
Yeah, I've only worked at districts where you can sign online, but I'm subbing for two districts right now, and one of them you actually call and talk to the sub coordinator for the district (there isn't another option.)
THat has got to be one over worked sub coordinator.
For real, right? I mean this isn't like a one school school district or something...and this district that I'm speaking of also has more rigid requirements for you to be a sub. Some of the districts around the area, OK, most of them, don't require you to be a teacher, some don't even require a degree I think, but they require you to have your certification, so she not only has a big job, but she has a big job with not the biggest group of people to go to.
