I just bought the book but have not seen the movie. Honestly, I have no interest, but my students all want to/have read the book. IMO, the content is not age-appropriate for my sixth-graders. Our library will not allow anyone other than 8th-graders to take the book out. I have told my students that they may read it on their own time with their parents' permission, but it is not one they can use for book clubs (which we are currently doing) or independent reading for school purposes.
Loved the books!! I haven't seen the movie yet - I don't usually go to the movies. Not sure what age it would be appropriate for. It is not for all these preteens that I see falling for the book and movie.
I loved the books, too!! I did go see the movie - it wasn't as good as the book (I don't think I've ever thought a movie was better than the book though), but it was still really good! My 2nd graders are definitely not old enough for the book. I know there were some 4th graders reading it at my school and I don't think that's appropriate. I would say mature middle school aged kids would probably be okay with the books.
