Do you send out a letter/postcard of some kind to your students before the school year? If so, what do you write on it?

I don't because we don't get class lists until about a week before school starts and I'm busy preparing for Open House. I try to send home something the first day though.

Unfortunately we don't learn about our students early enough either. Luckily the first time we meet is at a meet-and-greet where there are no classes but parents bring up the kids to drop off supplies and fill out paperwork so it's no stress.

Same here. Class lists are still being made. The kids don't know who their teachers are until the first day of school. I do send home a newsletter on the first day telling a little bit about myself and my class.

We only find out who is in our class a couple of days before school starts. Usually only one day before Meet the Teacher, so by then they have already come to school and met us.

I send a letter home on the first day that tells the parents about me, and things they can expect throughout the year.
