Hi! I'm Heather and Tenli will be 3 weeks old on Thursday. I have been breastfeeding, but with the use of a nipple shield because she would not latch on. I have talked to a couple of lactaction consultants, but I was wondering if anybody here has used a nipple shield before and if so, how you weaned your baby off it?

I only used one for a couple of days on one nipple, but I got rid of it by using it for the first minute or so and then removing it and putting him back to the breast. It took him a minute to latch back on, but he got the hang of it.

With my first I HAD to wean... LOL... I sorta lost the shield.

With this one though, I started out using it at every feeding, then went to every other feeding, then only using it when she just would not latch on, I got her off of it within 2 weeks of using it.

I don't have any experience with the shields but just wanted to say hi! I lived in Tucson for my first 21 years, I miss that place.

That's funny because I grew up in Northern California and would love to move back there!
