My 3 week old has recently started grunting and groaning while I'm nursing her. She will flail her arms around and turn a little red. I don't understand why she's doing this...it's really frustrating. She doesn't break her latch but when she's doing this it hurts. She has plenty of wet and poopy diapers so I think she's getting enough, but maybe it's not enough for her now? How do I know what is wrong? Is there anything I can do?

I don't know if this helps but my son does this when he has a little bit of a gas pocket. Hope you get it resolved.

I was just researching thrush and that was one of the symptoms... do you have any of the other signs?

I was also going to suggest thrush esp if youre having pain.

Okay, I gotta add something. Only one nipple hurts and it isn't really severe...it's pretty mild. The other nipple and breast feels fine. She doesn't fuss with the breast that feels fine, she only fusses and grunts with the one that hurts. Does it still sound like thrush or gas, or maybe she's not getting enough milk out of my breast that hurts??

Personally I would say thrush because Im battling it right now, and only my right side is sore.

With my baby, when she has gas, she thrash's and keeps letting go.
