So I am pretty sure that I have thrush and I found a drugstore that had this yesterday. I put it on my whole nipple and now my baby girl has a huge ring of purple around her mouth (of course her whole mouth is purple too). How long will this ring last if I continue to treat for the next three days? I know this sounds silly but we are going home to Cleveland next wednesday and she is going to meet her entire extended family. I want to make sure she looks normal. Any ideas? Or am I applying the stuff wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Youre doing it right. From my experience, after the last day of treatment, it only takes 24 hours or less to wear off, but sooner than that if you work at it

Trust me though, youd much rather have a purple people eater-looking baby than a bad case of thrush!!!!

Make sure you treat it diligently. Do you have all the usual links for it?

Make sure you are taking probiotics (3 a day for you for a week, then 1 a day for 3 weeks, plus 1 a day for baby for a month).

And finally, make sure you boil EVERYTHING that touches babys mouth PLUS your bras DAILY. Boil for a full 5 mins with a tsp or two of vinegar to kill it. Otherwise youll just keep reintroducing it & it will come back with a vengeance. Each time it comes back its harder & harder to treat. You can also use lotrimin af or monistat on your nipples if there is still pain or anything - plus its effective to treat any diaper rash from the thrush!

DD's always started to wear off before the next treatment. Once we stopped, it was mostly gone within 24 hours.

Audrey's would fade pretty quick too when i stopped applying the GV.It would last the longest on her lips and tounge. I applied it after every nursing session so she was purple for a long time! Good luck getting rid of the thrush, hope it's gone quick!

here's my purple people eater....

oh and it will stain clothing, so make sure she's not in her Sunday best!

Gotta love those purple smileys! We used the GV twice and it was a lifesaver. Ditto the suggestion to take probiotics. That helps immensely. I wound up taking them once daily as a preventive after our second round of thrush. Haven't had any trouble since. Good luck!
