I was out today so I had DH stop at every pharmacy we saw and I just went in and asked if they had it. We went to 3 national chains and no one carried it, but apparently they all knew what it was because as soon as I asked each person immediately said, No sorry we don't carry it. Well, I didn't know of any other place to stop but as we were driving we passed a mom and pop type place so I had him stop again and finally he had it!!!!!
Anyway, my question is how do you give this to your baby?
In the article I read it said to give it to the baby on a cotton swab and have her suck it off that then immediately get her to nurse to coat the nipple. Is this what you do?
I am really nervous about using it due to it staining things, I think DH will get really aggrivated if it gets on anything, not to mention I know he will freak when he sees what her face is going to look like.
Yep! I use a qtip, and either swab my nipples, then let baby nurse or swab in babys mouth (theyll usually suck on it) then let them nurse to coat your nipple. Either way works - 6 on one half a dozen on the other (Just make sure the solution says 1%).
Apply 2 - 3 times a day for 3 - 4 days. I usually applied 3 times the first day, then 2 times a day the next day, then 1 time a day for the last two days.
Dont forget to take probiotics & boil bras, binkys, nipples, pump parts, etc - anythign that touches your nipples or babys mouth. Otherwise itll just keep getting passed back. Its very resistent so its important to treat thoroughly & not skimp on anything. Add a tsp of vinegar to the boiling & let it boil a full 5 mins to kill the yeast.
Im glad you found it though, most mom & pop pharmacies are good for carrying it!
As for staining - it eventually washed out of all our stuff especially with oxyclean. Watchout for white countertops (though Magic Erasers worked for that too lol). Expect your baby to look like a purple people eater for a few days, but within 24 hours of your last treatment it will have worn off its not so bad. Take pics. Those pics we have are our favorite!!!
