Good morning everybody,

New to this board. I have a 2 day old that is latching on GREAT. I cant believe it. At first when we got home yesterday she really wouldnt eat at all and it got me kind of nervous, but then she started eating, that made me happy. Just a quick question, She has had3 pee diapers (that i can tell) and like 5 poopy ones, is this normal with breast fed babies? (my oldest was formula, she wouldnt take to the breast). Thanks in advance for the advice!

Sorry one more question. I tried pumping but got hardly anything, thats what made me kind of nervous about her not getting enough.

Hi!!!! Congrats!

Youre doing great!!! a total of 8 dirty diapers is phenomenal!!! You can rest assured your baby is getting more than enough. A good gauge is:
for the first week, 1 diaper per day of age (so 3 days old, 3 dirty diapers - wet or poopy). After a week, 5 - 6 diapers a day, whether wet and/or poopy, just all together.

Hang in there, and please do hang around here!

Lala...

Welcome!
How much you pump doesn't reflect how much your baby is getting. A few reasons for that, first, some moms don't repsond well to a pump. Second (and the reason for the first), is that a pump isn't as efficient as your baby. It can't mimic how your baby nurses, so it's going to be less effective at getting the milk out. If you need to pump and don't get much or anything at all, we can help you with that. Otherwise, just concentrate on nursing your little one. It sounds like you're doing great!
