ok, I took Jaxon 2 the ddr today..he had some red blood streaks in his poop. I am now on an elimination diet to see what was causing this but, he has only gained 11oz in 3 weeks.....what should I do to increase his caloric intake. I don't wanna start formula yet!

I woudl try to see a LC immediately. Milk protein is the most likely culprit of food allergies & sensitivities, so start with that.

Here are some links that should be helpful

http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growt...calculator.html

Also, http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns...ight-gain.html

Hes not *too* far behind on weight gain. My questions woudl be - when was he born (how many months/weeks is he) and how much did he weigh at birth & how are you & your DH built? Is he on par developmentally (not seeming overly lethargic, etc) and how many total diapers is he getting a day (wet + poopy)?

Also, how often does he nurse?

Jaxon was 10 days early. He weighed 7lb 11oz, left the hospital @ 7lb 1oz @ 5 days old was 7lb 8oz and @ 1mth he was 9lb 11oz. Now he is only 10lb 6oz. My DH and I are average. We are both very healthy and fit. Overall Jaxon is a VERY happy baby, he isn't lethargic or anything. He looks chunky to me. In a days time he has approx 5-6 wet diapers and 3-4 poopy diapers. If I pump 1 breast while I feed on the other I get 3-4 oz each time. He eats every 2 hours for 15-20 minutes. I am going to make an appt with a lactation consultant today. Thanks!

It doesn't sound like his weight is anything to worry about. He has gained almost 3lbs in 2 months, so it sounds like he is very average. You are pumping a very good amount of milk, he's alert and happy and has plenty of dirty diapers, which all indicate a perfectly healthy baby.
Hopefully you are able to figure out the culprit for the food allergy!

Andreas thoughts are mine exactly.

He is gaining, gaining well, growing, doesnt look like hes missed a meal, eating regularly, youre pumping more than enough to indicate a plentiful supply, developing great, getting more than enough wet & poopy diapers, and I see no reason to worry.

What I'm going to guess is that your dr is measuring him against FF growth charts. Even still, his steady gain is normal. Even with it slowing, its normal. I mean... if he continued to gain at the initial rate hed be HUGE! lol.

Hes totally compltely normal for a BF baby

He sounds very normal to me too. My son is 4 months old and weighs only 12lbs, his doctor said he is completely normal for his height especially since DH and I are slender.
