Hurt when you first start bf? Right now it is just an achiness (sp) It hurts when she latches on, but the pain does go away, after she has been sucking for a while, Maybe she is not latched on all the way possibly? Ohh one more question, can cranberry juice or grapes possibly tomatoes change the color of the milk. I pumped a little bit last night and about panicked, the milk had a slight tint of red to it. My nipples are not bleeding, so i attributed it to the juice. Thanks in advance
Ok..I don't think I am the norm, so dont get scared. But when my little one was born, I nursed within an hour of birth. She latched on like a champ.. and wow, the suction that one has is amazing. She can down a 6 oz bottle in no time. BUT.. it did hurt. And within 10 days my nipples were cracked, bleeding, raw.. and it lasted until she was about 5 weeks old. Then I quit BF and only pumped and gave a bottle for 3 days. That gave them time to heal.. and now I look forward to every feeding and truly enjoy it. Give it time and take good care of your boobs. It will get easier.
And yes.. your milk can become pink, blue, yellow.. with different foods.. and it is all fine.
