Hi girls, I have a baby girl who is almost 2 months old. We have been trying to get her to take a paci since birth, but she wanted nothing of it. about 4 nights ago she finally took it, but every since her suck has not been the same. she used to have a very tight suck but now it is very loose and she keeps coming off( not really a good way of explaining her suck but the best i can do). i am wondering what i can do to get her suck back. she thinks my finger is a paci and now she doesn't even suck that right.

You may have to enlist the help of a LC.

I would recommend ditching the paci, trying the 3 day nursing sabbatical (See the sticky on the main page), and letting her suck your finger, nail bed down. Be sure her lips are tucked out like a fish.

But, hoenstly if its jsut now started, you can probably remedy it quickly with a short trip to a LC in no time

The hospital or birthing center you had her at may have a LC on staff, that may be a good place to start. Otherwise, you can also call the local LLL leader, theyre trained to help a little and can also recommend good LC's. And your insurance may cover it, otherwise, it isnt usually expensive. Cheaper than a month of formula for sure! lol.
