I am almost six weeks PP, exclusively BFing. I stopped PP bleeding two weeks ago. Well today I have been cramping and started bleeding red blood. . .I know its my period. I though BFing was supposed to suppress this. Anyone else have this happen to them, is it normal?

I got mine around 3months PP this time, 5 months last time. I've heard of anything from right after PP bleeding stops all the way until toddlers wean. It's all normal, and it all sucks

Unfortunately, yes, and I agree, it has to suck. Not all women are lucky enough to escape thier period the whole time they are breastfeeding and some even get it as soon as 6 weeks PP.

Well, at only 6 weeks PP, its not liekly to be your period. Chances are, you are doing too much physically. I think anything int he first 8 weeks is usually considered normal PP bleeding. Of course, unless you have been charting, and can be certain you ovulated (which some women do even with BFing).

I would say its more likely to be a result of too much physical activity though, particularly if you bled until 4 weeks PP.

Ease up on the physical activities for another few weeks (really for about 8 weeks minimum you shouldnt be doign any heavy lifting or physical activities).

I also bled at 6 weeks pp and it was not my period. I was doing too much physically. I am 6 months pp and still haven't gotten it yet. Hope it's not it for you!

I really havent been doing anything more than normal, and just thought since i have cramps that it is my period. I will ask my ob at my PP visit on Monday. Why does it have to be so confusing?!?

I know that I bled on and off for longer the six weeks so its possible it stopped and started up again. I didn't get my period back until around 7 months but there are lots of women who get it much earlier or later.

From what I have heard, anything involving AF is normal while BF.
