How many of you nurse your baby to sleep? Just curious.
I do, I just started testing him to see if he can go to sleep without it, but he doesn't seem to be able to. I don't really mind though.

We still nurse to sleep most nights. However, its changed with time. She used to nurse feverishly to sleep. Now, and for quite some time, she just nurses till shes drowsy, and then unlatches & snuggles into my boob to actually fall asleep.

At night, Elliot either nurses to sleep or nurses and then pops off and lays with his face right up against my boob. If I try to move, he will wake right back up and start over

Alex nursed to sleep every night for 18 months. He would not go to sleep any other way. Then he just didn't seem to need it any more, i didn't do anything. I think babies grow out of it as the develop other ways to comfort themselves.

I guess I am in the minority! I didn't want her to always need the boob to go to sleep with and to be honest, she just never gets sleepy while eating so I nurse her and put her into bed wide awake and she plays for a bit and then crashes on her own!

I will probably be more like that when he is a bit bigger and can play Addison went to bed awake when she was Teagen's age.

I do for bedtime, but I try not to for naps.

At bedtime though, its the only way he will fall asleep. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, DH can't even go in and get him because he will scream until I feed him. Even if it's only been an hour, he still needs the boob to fall back asleep. I don't mind it too much right now, but I don't want to let it go on forever. I would like to be able to get a babysitter soon and go on a date with DH without having to worry about how he will fall asleep without me.

I guess because my schedule is that he eats as soon as he wakes from sleep he is not hungry when it is time to lay down. He never gets sleepy while eating. Sometimes I wish he would be sleepy and more calm while he is eating! But I do like that he doesn't have to nurse to go to sleep. I can understand how it is nice cuddle time though!

I have to usually nurse her down but if she is tired enough she will fall asleep if someone is holding her.

Walter eats every 2 hours usually, and he isn't up for more than 2 hours at a time usually, so the timing for both always coincide.

we mainly nurse to sleep here, although I do put him down at night sometimes and he falls asleep on his own. If it's past his bed time and he's playing with the boob then he goes down awake.

This is pretty much us too. She'll nap without nursing but at night she has to nurse to fall asleep. My mother in law did have her until about midnight once and she did go to sleep for her but if I;m around she won't.

ditto!

She is very, very good about falling asleep on her own. She is such a good baby so if she's cranky, she's either hungry or tired so I just lay her down and she goes to sleep. She always wakes up when I burp her anyway.. I do let her nurse back to sleep if she wakes at night to eat though.

She doesn't nurse herself to sleep at night. We have found out that she actually sleeps better at night falling asleep on her own then if she falls asleep on me or dh & we put her to bed after she's fsound asleep. We put her in her crib wide awake & she'll put herself to sleep within a minute.

I'm a SAHM so I usually nurse her to sleep for one of her daytime naps. She fights sleep during the day and can get overtired very easily. She can't fight the power of the boob, lol, and I enjoy that special one-on-one time that we have since once dh gets home he hogs the baby.
