I know I've posted before about Gabriel fighting the breast, but I've tried everything and it's really not getting any better. If anything,he's doing it more than he was before. He will latch on and start to suck, but after a bit, he gets so mad, unlatches, pushes me, and screams. Then he opens his mouth really big and I put the boob in, but he won't close his mouth to latch, just sits there like a little bird. I know he's hungry because he does this at all his feeding times after napping. I've done different positions, even positions for an overactive letdown, but nothing makes him happy on the breast. I can't figure it out. Any ideas?
I thought we had thrush, but we never had white spots, just a tad of itching for me. It was treated. He seems to do it more at night but he does do it in the day after he naps. Could he be emptying the breast and is frustrated that there's nothing coming out?
Have you tried squeezing your nipple to see if any milk shoots out when he does it? I thought the same thing about me being empty because after about 5 minutes of eating, Elliot will keep latching and unlatching and will start whining and yelling. Usually there is still plenty of milk though. If I detach and burp him, then give him a minute and try again he will usually eat more. Is he usually gassy?
Well for some reason he has been perfectly normal since I wrote that post lol. But instead of putting him back on the same breast 2 or 3 times, I kept switching him, and he seemed to like that better. So who knows, he's a picky eater I guess! Thanks for the help ladies!
